Hi. My son was the same way. I am a dental hygienist so I wasn't too worried but I thought at 6 mo. he should be getting a tooth. He got his first tooth at 10 mo. and then they just kept coming and coming. I have even heard of some kids not having any teeth until after their first birthday. Don't worry.

My son did everything early too, except crawl and teethe. He almost walked before he crawled. He started pulling himself up to standing at 6 months and would cruise around holding on to things at 7 or so months. He started crawling two weeks before walking and still didn't have any teeth. The drs say the longer it takes to get teeth the healthier they will be, so be glad his teeth haven't come in yet.

my first daughter didn't get her first tooth until around 10mos. I was worried about it, but my pedi said not to worry until 18mos! I thought it sounded like a long time, but slowly she started getting them. She was not like most kids. At her 1st b-day she was still on alot of baby food because she just had a couple of teeth in the front. They can "gum" alot of foods. Not to worry, I am sure he will start getting some choppers soon.

they say some kids dont get teeth until 16 months but after that you should consult a dr. there may be a problem. but that is after 16 months. some babies are born with teeth already and some dont come in until very late. its okay. i would not worry about it. mabey he will skip the biting stage!!!

My daughter got her first tooth only at 12 months. She's 27 months now and has 16 out of the 20 teeths she's supposed to have. An advantage late teethers have is that they tend to have stronger teeth because they haven't been exposed to as much milk as early teethers. So don't worry, your son will be fine.

I think anywhere between 4 months and just a little over a year is normal but every child is different. My daughter didn't get her first until she was 13 months but my 9 month old son already has 2 and is working on 4 more.

When they get their teeth is all based on genetics. Both my boys got their first at 9 months, but had their molars early at 11 months. Don't worry about it. They can eat finger food without them!!!

My son didn't get his first tooth until he was 15 months old. He was very advanced and is still very advanced for his age so I don't think that has anything to do with when they will get their teeth. My pediatrician also said that the longer it takes to get their teeth, the healthier the teeth typically are. I wouldn't worry about it at all. My son was able to eat steak and everything else with just his gums. Also, my son got his molars first and rest of his teeth came in very randomly. My husband and I both were normal on when we got our teeth and both of ours came in the correct way so I don't know why my son's teeth were so different but he has all of them now and they are as healthy as can be!! Don't worry about it.

My daughter was the same way. She didn't get her first tooth until she was 11 months. Now that she is 21 months old, she has 12 teeth. My pediatrician said that the longer the teeth stay in the gums, the stronger they will be. So it is actually a good thing that he hasn't gotten them yet. Hope this helps!

Hi M.,
Well my children have been early walkers, talkers, etc. but slow to get in teeth. I was told breastfeeding delayed them getting their teeth...not sure if that is true, but maybe it is. My almost 14 month old just cut her 3rd tooth this week....hang in there they we will come.

We had the same issue with both of our kids. My son crawled at 4 months, walked at 8 months, and got his first tooth at 13 months. My daughter crawled at 4 1/2 months, walked at 9 months, and got her first tooth just in time for her birthday. Our pediatrician said that is very normal. My son, now almost 12, still is delayed in his oral development. His 8 year molars came in at 9, and the latest x-rays shaow his 12 year molars still about a year away.

Just be proud of the abilities your son has now, and don't worry about the teeth. They will come in soon enough!

Some babies don't get them until after a year. It just depends. I wouldn't worry about anything. All babies develop differently!

My daughter did not get her first tooth until after her first birthday. They also didn't come in in the "normal" order. By the time she was 2 she had more teeth than her friends who cut teeth at 6 mo. My son got 2 teeth at 6 mo. and then nothing else until about 16 mo. His teeth are also coming out in a weird order. I think all kids are different. When he does start teething, Hyland's ??? teething tablets & ibuprofen are a godsend!

I had the same question about my son. I asked his doctor and he said the same as everyone else that every child is different and genetics plays a role. So I asked what was the oldest child he had seen that had not cut teeth. He said 18 months! At the time my son was only a year old but less than a month after that he cut six teeth. So no need to worry about it.

My daughter was late getting teeth as compared to her friends, but they have all come in (she's 2 1/2 now). I can't remember exactly when they started coming in, but most came in after she turned one.
