Re the Swim/bath Question, How Gross Is This...

I really don't think there is anything that my kids could do that would gross me out. I am pretty much numb to it.

Even the girls get into the game. My older daughter went to an all girls high school, they used to have leg hair growth competition. Pretty much all the social norms driven by boys went right out the door. About the funniest thing was when a freshman was picked up by their hot older brother, the girls would stand behind the bushes so that they boys wouldn't see the awful state of affair their legs were in.

Ive swam in sloughs and canals and mudpuddles and lakes that had signs about parasite warnings. You gotta LIVE or it just isnt any fun!

I used to go to a swim park that required you to shower before getting in the pool. I wonder if they still have parks like that. It wasn't really enforced but it was on the list of "pool rules" and We always rinsed off before and after going swimming. (After to rinse off the chlorine.)

my kids do gross things all the time, mostly involving eating with out washing their hands. It hasn't killed them yet.

As a teenager, a friend of mine and I (also a girl) used to swim in tanks (large ponds) WITH cows. We had to walk through the cow patties to get to the deeper water. It was so incredibly gross, but we were in Texas, and it was hot.

Now when I tell my sons that story they are so grossed out! I tell them to wait and see. They'll do gross things, too. :)

The comments to this made me think of something. It's not gross, but sometimes you have the most fun when you bend the rules. My husband and I went past some red caution tape in Cabo on our honeymoon, at night. We were really watching the waves and didn't go in them, but we saw the irridescent shrimp on the beach and it was so cool! They were tiny and we couldn't tell what they were at first. The beach would just light up when the waves crashed. Don't think I ever would have seen that anywhere else. Just thought I'd share.
On the other hand, my son's 3 and doesn't like to get muddy. Our friends had a "mud run" b-day and my son didn't do it. Maybe he'll change.
