Homefirst is excellent - for the whole family, though they clearly "soecialize" in babies. They have multiple locations, are almost always available for same or next day appointments and they really LISTEN and talk with you about any and all things concerning you, your baby, your husband... everyone... anything on your mind. Love them. Have had 3 babies with them. Drs. Shattauer and Zumhagen are my favs.... they also caught my kids, but hey! Bias is not something I am not admitting to here. > wink<

Robin Uchitelle is fantastic and will support alternative and well as more main stream approaches to wellness. If you use an alternative vaccine schedule she will completely support you if you ever end up being questions or hassled in the emergency room. I have been going to her for almost 10 years, know dozens of people who use her, and everyone I know is very happy with her.

My daughter sees Dr. Locke in River Forest. Her and her partner, Dr. Uchitelle are great. I didn't delay vaccinations but wanted someone who was really supportive of extended breastfeeding. They are located in the West Suburban medical building on Lake in front of Jewel and just west of Panera and Whole FOods.
If you are willing to travel, I've heard that Homefirst is an awesome practice.

I will second (third?) the recommendation for Dr.s Locke & Uchitelle. We see Dr. Locke, but have Dr. Uchitelle once or twice as well. My husband and I both work full time and their office is about 30-45 minutes from our home. As a result, she only brings us in if absolutely necessary. If the daycare needs a note from the doc she will often just fax one over. She rarely prescribes antibiotics and frequently offers natural choices first. They're family docs, so they see all of us - something I think gives them better insight into the family dynamic when my any of us come in sick.

I take my children to Pedios they are on Chicago ave right off Ridgeland before you get to the 7-11. The number is ###-###-####. I don't know where they stand on those issues, but you can call and ask. I really love it thier, they are very attentive, and they even have an hour each morning and on weekends where you can call and ask them any question you want. Very helpful for a new mom, I just started going there with the birth of my sec child, really wish I knew about them with my first. Good look finding a Pediatrician.

I also need an Oak Park pediatrician and so am interested in the replies. For vaccinations, the american academy of pediatrics and cdc both have great info on their websites. www.aap.org and www.cdc.gov AAP has info on the studies that show that you aren't overloading an immune system by giving several vaccines at once. They also have the studies that show that autism is not caused by vaccinations, it likely has a genetic component and its onset is much earlier than when it is often first diagnosed, well before the mmr vaccine. hope these are helpful.

I love Dr Mercola. He is an excellent Pediatrician. I take my 3 kids to him and couldn't be happier. He has great bedside manner, relates well to my kids and me, spends plenty of time with us and is very knowledgable. ope this helps.
