I got some sofas for free; however, the fabric is cream and I'd like to change it to a darker color. Does anyone know of a place that is reasonable and good where I can get my sofas reupholstered?

Also, what is the average price to getting this done... as I am clueless.

What can I do next?

depending on the quality of the sofas, you may be better off just using store bought slip covers or buying new furniture. I have an 82 inch sofa and got several quotes for reupholsterng and they were between $700 and $1000. I got a slipcover from pottery barn instead.

My father-in-law does upholstery. Not sure on the prices but, I am sure he is reasonable! If interested let me know and I can get you all of his information.

I have a friend who has an upolsterer. She sews window treatments. You can call her at ###-###-####. her company is Sew Simple Designs and her name is Loria. Her upolsterer is very good and very reasonable. You can call her for a quote. He does nice work.I am not sure how much it is exactly, but I remember thinking it wasn't that bad, cheaper than a new sofa, and you can get what you want. Good Luck!

Hi,
My uncle, who lives in Channahon yet owns a upolhostery shop in Chicago would give you a good price and his work is top of the line. This late at night I don't have his phone number however, I can give you the name of his shop which is in Chicago.
Originally it was my Grandfathers shop and my Uncle, his son worked with him for his entire life. The name of the shop is Duracka Upholstery. It is on Archer avenue in Chicago.
His name is John Duracka. I know that he could pick up your furniture and bring it to his shop and complete it for you then deliver it back to your home on his way to and from work daily.
If you cannot find the number, I will look for it tomorrow and if you contact me, I can get the number to you. My grandfather upholstered since the early 1920s or so. My Uncle, as he grew and now is in his 50s.
Let me know if you need more information.
Sincerely, K.
