So, bad back pain...dr recommended maternity support belt. I went and got one yesterday and am wearing it this morning and is it supposed to hurt? Like is it one of those things that gets worse before it gets better? I never thought my belly seemed "heavy" like trying to lift it and carry it myself never gave relief like I had friends experience/tell me. So I have the belt on and it is not comfortable at all. I am sure it is something to get used to, but this seems kind of ridiculous...thoughts??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

PS - I have been seeing a chiropractor throughout this whole pregnancy - that has helped.

The support shouldn't hurt if you have it on correctly. But - it never helped my pregnancy back pain at all. I hope it works better for you.

No, it's not supposed to hurt. Check with your doc and make sure you're wearing it properly. Also, there are different styles of these. I hated the girdle-like one, but did well with a simple stretchy band that was adjustable and went around my back at waist level, then just under my belly. I also did well going old school - I took a long, narrow piece of cloth and wrapped it to suit me. That way I had cotton breathability and washability, and a little light support, which was all the help I really needed.

Got a stretchy tube type one which was given to me at an early fetal HR testing. Worked wonders.

I had to see the Chiro after I had each of my kids. Sometimes things come out of alingment. It is best to get it checked out. The chrio that I see does PT to help you get everything back in order.

I never did try the maternity support belt, so I can not say if it is supposed to hurt or not.
