I suggest that, since her legs are short, that the circulation gets cut off and then they do hurt once the blood starts circulating again. Sounds normal to me. Some kids are just more aware of their bodies than others.
My daughter complains her legs hurt whenever she sits for any length of time. After she gets off the toilet she sits on ground and says OUCH my legs. When her dad carries her on his shoulders and puts her down, she says her legs hurt. It also happens when she sits coloring. I wondered if maybe her legs were falling asleep...but how do your legs fall asleep on a toilet? She doesn't sit that long, maybe 3 minutes. Has anyone had this happen?
Thanks everyone. She has her well check in two weeks so I will ask her ped. In the meantime I'm going to keep a little journal of how often she does it. I do have Raynauds which is bascially poor circulation - so maybe she inherited that from me and it is her legs falling asleep. I googled and it says leg pain is most worrisome at night - but she's never complained of leg pain at night, or in the morning when she gets up...it's only after she sits and usually when she sits with her legs bent.

I would check with the doctor.....it can be many things, some are scary......
It could be how she is sitting on the toilet...it could be decreasing circulation to her legs. I know when my daughter sits in there playing her DS she loses track of time and then tells me it feels like "ants" are crawling on her.
does she have any growing issues? like growing very quickly in a short amount of time? Has she been exposed to bites from ticks recently? Sometimes kids during growth spurts have sensitive bones, and joints. Also, I have heard that localized pain in the limbs is a sign of certain types of Lyme's disease. My BF's 4 year old daughter contracted it after a bite. It has affected her arms and legs, and complains exactly as you described. I was a tall kid and even got some stretch marks on my knees. My knees were always hurting. From age 6 till like 10 I think. Aspirin and rubs and some acupuncture helped, but not entirely.
My daughter is 4 with exactly the same complaint.i get really worried.when she started complaining 1 year ago,I took her to the doctor.she ruled it off and asked me to watch how she sits and give her bananas to supplement potassium.it helped but she complained last night.i start to worry again.she cries when she has a pain it might be hurting so bad.
I will take her to the pediatrician but did you find out something? What did your pediatrician say?
