So, I can't seem to shave my bikini line without getting razor bumps. I've tried going with the growth of the skin, against it, using a thick cream while shaving, using just soap - nothing seems to help. Any suggestions? Is this why people wax? (Do I really have to wax DOWN THERE?!) Thanks!

So What Happened?

Ok, I used vit E oil (I didn't have beeswax and the other oils suggested) to get it better, and I ordered a wax online. I'll take a shot of whiskey and a chance on the wax I guess - wish me luck!

Instead of a clean shave, I rather just use a trimmer and keep it well trimmed because I tend to get bumps and ingrowns - I will not wax down there - I rather be Jane of the Jungle!

tons of great advice here.

I have also read from a lot of people that putting roll on deodorant after shaving helps, never tried it though.

Stripper Trick:

Secret Unscented Solid Deodorant/Antiperspirant

As soon as you shave, apply it on your bikini line (and anywhere else sensitive you've just shaved). Reapply later or the next day if you feel any chafing.

Before sex, use a babywipe to get it off (no one wants antiperspirant on their tongue!!!)

People tend to fall into 1 of 2 camps:

- Those who get razor burn and ingrown hairs from shaving
- Those who get razor burn and ingrown hairs from waxing

I get them from shaving, and even though I can nix them, I used to have sex every day, so I preferred waxing.

Honestly, just go to a good waxing place (not a nail place or a hair place, but a place where all they do is waxing - like European Wax Center, if you have one nearby). The first time, yes, it's worse than childbirth it's so painful. But after that, as long as you go once a month, it's quick and easy, and you never ever have bumps or rash. I would really REALLY not recommend trying to wax your own bikini line, unless you are a far braver woman than I am. :)

About a half hour before your going to shave, put lotion on it so its hydrated. Use plenty of shaving cream then after I use the after shower body spray ( from bed, bath and beyond) burns like a son of a gun but still WAY less painful than waxing!

Also try doing it at night and then go commando and wear a night gown that way nothing is rubbing on it right away so it doesn't get irritated and bumpy. Then in the morning put more lotion on.

This seems to help for me... every once in a while I still get them put not as bad as I use to.

I have also hear of the deodorant but have never tried it.

How often do you shave down there? I've been doing it every other day since I was 18 (11 years) and once I did it all the time, the itch factor went away.

I use this shave conditioner called coochie you can buy it at any "adult" store. I use a triple blade razor I like mens schick razor they work well then I use a cortisone cream w/a little aquaphor mixed together (works like a balm) after shave/shower & it's worked for me. Good luck!

I have the same problem! I heard that using something with Salycic acid afterwards can help, so I use a little blemish toner and it seems to help a little bit. I do much better if I use a hair removal creme made specifically for your bikini line. Avon has a good one for sensitive skin. I tried waxing at home with a kit several years ago, and it took me forever. It didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would, but it took so long it gave me a headache! Good luck.

Fun Question! Melting a little beeswax with some vitamin e oil, coconut oil, or jojoba oil, you can make a really nice balm that is great for sensitive skin. After you shave, apply a really thin layer. Works every time! :) Best of luck!
