I also like Kiyah! Raven is becoming popular due to the Disney show, "That's so Raven". Just a thought in being different.
I am due in June with a little girl and my husband and I are having the hardest time tring to figure out a name. With our daughter who is now 2 it took us all of 30 min sitting on a web site looking to find one. Her name is Mika (Mee-cka). Her name means new moon or new phases. I want to find something that is simalar to my daughters name but not to close. One that I found that I like is Kiyah it means new land. On the other hand my husband likes th name Raven. Neither of us like the others name that we have picked out. We both try for about an hour at night to look and come up with something else but nothing click. Dose any one have any ideas? We really want something orignal. We ust cant find it.
Thank you every one for trying to help. My husband is being very stubarn and refuses the name Kiyah now. We are still looking for a name I hope that we find one soon. I am one of those people that just has to be prepared.

I Like Kiyah, it is origanl ane beautiful to say. I sometime still get cr*p from people for my sons name which is Tynan (Irish Galic means Dark) besides I think that it is fun to have a name that means something.
There are wonderful websites if you go to www.google.com and search for baby names. I found both my daughters' names of the website. My second daughter was the hardest and I wanted it to end in an "a" sound like her sister's name. My husband was very picky and didn't like anything I picked out. I ended up finding a website where you could look for names starting with a "M" and ending with an "a" or you can search a whole lot of different ways. What I ended up doing was combining my husbands name with the first 2 initials of my name ending up with an "a" on the end and it turned out beautiful. I wish I would've saved the website to email to you and if I can find it, I will! I personally love Kiyah with Mika better than Raven or something similar to Mika like Mikael (pronounced
mee-ky-elle). Let us know what you end up with.
I think you should just combine the 2, Kiyah Raven. In time you can tell her she was named using the names both mom and dad loved.
i like kiyah...how pretty.
My husband and I couldn't agree on a name either. We each wrote a list of 5 or so names on our own and then exchanged lists and crossed off the names we couldn't live with and left the names we liked. We then discussed the names left on our list and came to a compromise that made us both happy.
well i kinda like the name raven but it is a bird that eats dead animals you know, so the meaning won't be very close to mika's at all. I love the name Alyca (al-e-ka) though. i don't know what it means but i have a friend who named her daughter Alyca and i have always loved it, and you dont' hear of any one else named that.
I like Kiyah, but I think the hard part is over as you have both found a name that you each like. I would leave it at that, wait until she's born, and then see which name suits her best.
Hello you could go with Kiana, which means moon godess. It's a Haiwian name. It was in the running for our daughter. We liked it but decided on a different name. Also tidbit of info... the end of June astrology-wise (Cancer) centers on the moon. And before June 21st is Gemini. So we let our daughter decide her name on when she was born. If she was born after the 22nd her name would have been Kiana but since she was born not in the moon sign (Cancer) we named her our other name. That way we didn't have to decide. Maybe you could do that with your husband too. Good luck. Whatever you decide will be perfect.
Hi there,
The only thing I wanted to add was to consider the sounds of both your children's names. Are you okay with the similar sounds of Mika and Kiyah? They are almost the same sounds, but in reverse. We are now trying to name our baby, due in May, and are thinking of these same kinds of issues.
As for looking up names, I have found the baby books (from the library... since this is such a temporary need) to be much easier to peruse than the internet...
Good luck,
R.
Definatly kiyah. Pronounced (kiah)?
Raven is not a name most kids like after ealy childhood, ive found.
Good Luck
I like Kiyah more, it seems to go better with her older sister's name. I do have one suggestion, though. 'Brenna' actually means Raven and it seems a bit more feminine.
My husband's cousin and her husband were trying to figure out what to name their little girl - he wanted Sharleen and she wanted Kayla...they compromised and have Sharla. A compromise for Raven and Kiyah could be Riyah - there is a kindergartner at the school where I teach named Riyah. I think it is cute!
Personally, I like Kiyah, but with a more traditional spelling like Kia, Kyah or Kya. The "iy" spelling combination is odd in my opinion. I don't like the "made up names" because they are just that, made up. When naming our daughter Sophia, we chose the traditional spelling even though I liked "Sofia" because I didn't want her to have to correct people who mis-spelled it all the time. And yes, raven is a bird.
I do think Mika and Kiah sound good together.

www.behindthename.com is a great website for baby names. The most accurate on the web, with REAL meanings.
I was reading the responses and I agree, combine the 2 names or use them both.
I love your names....I love unusal names as well. My friend calls them "made up" names, lol.
I have a son Kaleb, daughter Kalista, and daughter Sabella..
Update us on your choice :)
Congrats on new baby!!
