I just took my little boy to the doctor yesterday for his 2 week check up. The doctor said he looked great! Well later on in the day I noticed I had was getting a rash, It just looked like small little unraised dots like pin pricks... I never had a fever and it never itched. I have it on my arms ,thighs, stomach, a little on my cheeks, and a little spot on my back and chest. It is starting to go away, but today when i was taking my little boys clothes off to just check him out for anything I noticed that he seems to have the same little rash in the same places. He seems happy and content but I dont know if I need to take him in to the doctor or just monitor him.?.

A few have mentioned about Heat rash, I havent taken my baby outside other then to the doctor and right back, and our place is sometimes a little cold so would heat rash still be the case? I havent eaten anything I normally dont eat either.

What can I do next?

Dr. Smith Ointment works miricles!!! Its a little pricey but i promise a little goes a long way and the rash should be gone by the next day!! Its the only cream that has ever worked for my now 19 month old daughter!! You can find it normally in the pharmacy over the counter!

Maybe Fifth's Disease which is harmless unless you are pregnant. It's also called "slapped baby" disease because the cheeks can get real red like the baby has been slapped. It's a rash that comes up on your stomach, arms, cheeks and can come and go for a few days. It is a relative of measles but like I said, harmless for most- just stay away from pregnant moms because it can cause miscarriage if a pregnant mom is exposed to it. Usually adults don't get it because they have it as kids-but I have had it four times as an adult so it is possible! Adults tend to have joint pain, also.
It could also be heat rash but because you had it and then the next day your son had it, that makes me think of something contagious.
If it doesn't go away, I'd check with the doctor since your baby is so young. Tiny babies do get lots of rashes for no reason but it would make you feel better I'm sure to rule out anything else.
Good luck!

The same thing happened to my boy at about 10 days. The doctor explained to us that it was likely a hormone flush that caused the rash and that it would go away. And it did, in about two days. He was not at all uncomfortable with it.

If it's as hot in Houston as it is here in Portland (90+degrees) this could be a heat rash. The fact that yours went away quickly makes it seem even more so to be a heat rash. If you and your baby do not have a fever and feel fine I'd just wait and see before going to the doctor.

When my daughter was only a couple weeks old she started getting little rashes here and there and I would call and talk to a nurse at the pediatrician's office. I explained and answered questions and sometimes they would want to see her and other times they would just offer advice. If you're like me and are going to worry about it there is no harm in calling especially since you have the rash too.....you can't be too safe since he's still so little.

Normally, I would agree to just monitor him, because it's probably nothing but because of your son's age, if the rash is still there tomorrow, I would take him in. He's so young that something minor in you could explode in him. Good luck.

If you are using a new type of laundry soap, fabric softener, etc. go back to what you were using. Or you can run them through the rinse cycle two times.Be sure and wash his clothes separate from yours and also put them through two rinses. He may be sensitive to something in the laundry soap.
