Rash on Either Side of 3 Year Old's Waist

I just tried to look this up, and of course it's bringing up all kinds of things.... My 3 year old for the past few days has had a small rash on the side of her waist line. It's a group of tiny red raised bumps. I assume it's from her pants or something and she's not complaining about it at all. It hasn't grown or spread except for a couple of pimple looking things on her bottom. She has her yearly check up on the 11th, but if this seems weird to the doc, I'll take her in, but I tend to freak out about the smalles things.... None of this is on her groin area at all. It's all her waistline and the top of her bottom.

What can I do next?

My daughter has the same thing right now (same age). I attribute it to the tights she wore for Halloween or the adjustable waist bands OR just dry skin. I have been putting lotion on it to see if it goes away. Now it's not red, just very DRY!

Does she wear any clothing with adjustable waist bands? When my kids have a pair of pants with adjustable waist bands on they always end up with a red , dry looking rash either side aswell , it does not itch them and they don't complain either , I think it is just friction of the elastic rubbing.

It could be molluscum - that's the same place my Tatiana had it when she was a baby. It is usually not red though but could be from her waist band. I hope it is something simpler because molluscum is such a b*tch to get rid of! See what the dr says before you worry about it.

Good luck!

The elastic in her underwear or if she wears pants with the adjustable waist they can do it too.

I suggest that she's worn something around her waist that has irritated her skin. Perhaps she's allergic to the detergent or if she's worn something new to the fabric finish.

The pimple looking spots on her bottom may not be related. We all get those from time to time. They're usually a clogged pore or ingrown hair.

pimple looking things on her bottom could be from not being dried completely after bath. then putting underwear on. the sides could be from her pants rubbing against the waist. if it is not spreading, itching, or uncomfortable, i don't think it's anything serious.

Most of us seem to agree that it's probably harmless. Hydrocortisone cream is the absolute best thing to keep in your medicine cabinet. It works very well on things like this, any type of mild skin irritation, and you only need to use tiny amounts. It should show improvement in a day.

Could be folliclulitis - infected hair follicles. When you said it looked like pimples, that is what I thought of. Both of my kids have had this. It is not serious, can be treated topically or orally iif it's more severe.

Keep us posted.

My first thought is she may have a reaction to the detergent. Did you change it recently?
