Rash Around Her Eye

My baby, who just turned one last week, has developed some sort of rash around her left eye. One week ago she woke up with a few little red dots under the eye. I didn't think much of it...maybe she scratched it or something. Then the next morning, a few more places, kind of raised up. Then, it spread to her eyelid. I happened to have her one year well check two days ago and they were perplexed too. The dr. thought it might be eczema, which is a strange place to have it, I think. I have always used the ABC line from Arbonne on her, but have put a very very small amount of the body oil and lotion around her eye (not where it will get in it) to see if that will help. After two days, it doesn't seem to be helping. Any thoughts or suggestions? She is a very happy and easy baby and tonight she wasn't herself and I wondered if it might be her eye bothering her. I'm at a loss and appreciate your thoughts!

So What Happened?

Thank you so much! It is still there but it seems to not be getting any worse. I am keeping an eye on it. I'll update more if we find out what it was/is exactly, like an allergy or something.///update 3/12: I started applying the ABC lotion more frequently during the day and it is getting better. I think it is eczema. It did get worse before it started getting better.

My daughter gets that too. I believe (and my pediatrician brother told me too) that it's allergy related. When it gets red and tender, I put a little Hydrocortisone cream (not ointment) on it. It takes a couple of days to go away if it's bad, but it soothes it immediately. As always, be careful not to get it in her eye. If her eyes are watery on any given day, I've given her claritin for kids and it helps tremendously.

Are you sure it's not a "strawberry" birth mark? Also called strawberry hemangioma?

My son who is almost 11 had a strawberry hemangioma form around his eye too, and it was very bright, raised, soft and it eventually faded with time.

My son had eczema when he was born up until we used the arbonne abc line also. Keep that up because he doesn't have any more problems with that and he is 4 1/2. Symptoms went away at about 1 1/2. Also you might consider juice plus which is an addtional supplement of fruits and veggies in a gummies form. My son has been on it for 2 years and his allergies and asthesma has improved drastically. When you start to feed with baby food you can actually add 1/2 of a capsule to their food to boost her immunities. If you are interested in learning more let me know. My whole family is on it and have been for over 3 years. You can really tell a difference. My email is ____@____.com if you have any other questions.

Something similar happened to my daughter not too long ago (she's 4). I think it had to do with a new dryer sheet. I did not use it on her clothes, but on mine and she was really tired and had her face nuzzled on my shirt while I was holding her. When I looked at her, she had little reddish pink dots under her eye/cheekbone. They seemed to get worse and then better, all within a few hours. The only thing I could attribute to is the change in dryer sheet. I guess an allergy...maybe the same for your daughter?

Hi, S.!

Eczema should not be the cause of "red dots" on your baby's face, and obviously, it's not a "birthmark", because your daughter is a year old and is just now developing the problem. Is there an optometrist or ophthalmalogist in town that would see your daughter? And did your pediatrician rule out chicken pox, measles, and mumps, among other conditions? (I actually had chicken pox TWICE....the 1st time I was 4, and the 2nd time I was 7 ~ still have "pox" scars on my face, even though I didn't scratch them.) It may also be an allergic reaction to something...have you started using anything new with her, like bath products, or laundry soap, or even new foods this week?

My son has eczema, but we use Renew Lotion and he very rarely has an outbreak of it anymore! (Actually, the only time he does have an outbreak is because we haven't used the lotion in a while. He will actually get his lotion and either get me to put it on him, or try to put it on himself! He is sooo cute when he does that!) Let me know if you'd like to know more about it.

Hope you and your daughter get to feeling better soon! Let me know what you find out...my address is ____@____.com.
