hi moms, my baby never had any type of rash or skin problem, but 5 days ago she got red pimpels on her back, they are small pimpels, little bit elevated, with redness area around, no drainage, just red in color, now she has more and more every day, she is 7 months old, i dont know what they are, i saw one today already on her arm too. i dont know what to do. I didnt change washing detergent, didnt give her any new food, no new lotion, i am still breastfeeding but i didnt eat anything new too. so i dont know what to do. thank you

What can I do next?

She's had a rash for 5 days now? I would definitely take her to the doctor ASAP. Any symptom that lasts for 5 days is something that should be checked out. Does she have any other symptoms like fever? If it was me, and I'm not a "run to the doctor" kind of mom, I'd take her to Urgent Care today instead of waiting until Monday, just in case it's something serious like chicken pox and especially since it's lasted so long and keeps getting worse. Worst case scenario, it's something totally minor and you wasted a few hours. Good luck!

My son used to get this type of rash all the time. Now that he's almost 3 he's developed Eczema and when I took him to the doctor they ran food allergy tests on him and it turns out he's allergic to milk. They said that it probably just got worse over time and his reaction got stronger. Anyway, after 2 1/2 years of mystery rashes, his skin is finally clear. Just a thought, perhaps she has a small allergy and it's getting through your breastmilk.

well, it does sound like an allergic reaction. Does it seem to be hurting her? Is it in a spot where she might be sweaty or overheating? There is something called "prickly heat" which is a rash that comes out when you've been sweating or overheating. I get it sometimes, I just have to cool off and try not to overexert in the heat.

Roseola?
Chicken pox?
Call your pediatrician's office and talk to the nurse advisor there.
Describe the bumps and how/when they started and spread.

Dear Kika:

Not changing anything can be the cause of a rash. You most likely are becoming allergic to something you are eating. The symptoms may not yet reveal themselves on you.

Avoid daily and seafood for a week or 2 and see what happens.

Good Luck

Kim
