Hello,
My 26 month old girl has I guess you might call it dry skin? Almost looks like goose bumps when your cold. Not red or blotchy and it tends to come n go. I am not sure if it's an allergic reaction to something? Have not changed any products since she was born. It's on her belly, thighs, and sometimes arms. My concern is she scratches it quite hard. I dont think it's a major concern, more of a discomfort for her and I dont like that she has dry skin being so young. Any over the counter suggestions/remedies? Thanks so much!

I agree - sounds just like when my son got eczema as a baby. Definitely check it out with a doctor to be sure. For us, reducing bathtime to just a few times a week with lukewarm water, no bubblebath, and using California Baby super sensitive body wash really helped. We kept him well-moisturized with aquaphor and eucerin, and we stopped dressing him in the fuzzy polyester pj's. Only cotton pj's now. His eczema is pretty much gone and only flares up at the change of seasons. Good luck to you!
You should let your Dr. look at it, my daughter has something like that and a couple Drs have said it is keratosis, nothing major but there are better lotions and soaps that help it look better or go away, at a later age they suggest exfoliating. BUT when she has what looked the same on her face it was actually excema and perscribed a heavy duty cream and it cleared it up right away,..so just get a Drs opinion and they can tell you the right thing
Try switching to fragrance-free laundry and hygiene products... then move on to possible culprit foods elimination... for my older boy eggs and soy were triggers.
It sounds like eczema. Eczema is triggering by an allergic reaction to something she is eating. Try removing wheat from her diet and see if that helps. Then, try removing dairy, etc. Try all the big allergens and see if that helps. You could also take her to the doctor for food allergy testing.
Since it keeps coming back I would see a doctor. It might be a simple fix with the right lotion. It could be viral or it could be bacterial and an antibiotic is needed. Could be allergic, which will be hard to discern the culprit. It does not sound like dry skin to me. It sounds a little like measles too. Any fever?
I would see a doc.
My youngest has the worse case of eczema in our house, aquaphor is great, but he also needs a steroid cream to keep it manageable.
