Sounds like eczema. Certain lotions, soaps, weather, etc. can cause it to flare up. I would bring him to the doctor and see what types of products they suggest.
My 9 (almost 10) year old has always had sensitive and very dry skin thanks to his mother. He is also allergic to anything with fur or feathers. He has always gotten little rashes here and there but they always seemed to be related to what he was exposed to, e.g. a dog, rolling in the grass, etc. In the last month or so however, he has gotten little bumps all over his entire body. There is not discoloration, they almost look like goose bumps that never go away. I have asked him if they itch or hurt and the says they don't. I thought maybe it was the dry weather so we have amped up the lotion and water and no change. I will probably take him to the doctor but always like to exhaust all ideas before I go in. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Thanks in advance everyone!

It is a form of Eczema. My son is 3 and has dealt with it from day one. We have the red itchy spots, and the not so itchy spots. We have gone to a dermatologist and she reccommended CeraVe cream. it is OTC at Walgreens and is amazing. I put that on my son morning and night, and we rarely have flair ups anymore. Good Luck!
My guess without looking at it but understanding dry skin is that it is eczema. I use cortisone, cetaphyl and vaseline to treat my daughter's eczema.
It sounds just like my 7-year-old's eczema, except that hers itches and she scratches it until it bleeds! Either way, I bet it's eczema. I would recommend going to the dr. just to make sure, but my doctor told me to make sure that every day she stays in the shower or bath for at least 15 minutes and then to not dry off completely and to put a good moisturizing lotion on while her skin is still kind of wet. He also gave us a prescription to use instead of the lotion when her skin is really bad. Both have helped a lot! Good luck, sensitive skin can be a major pain for kids and their parents! :)
When I first read this, I thought I have a great lotion for dryness, but this sounds like more than dry skin with the bumps. Have you changed laundry soap or his soap he uses to bathe? Those are the first things that come to mind.
Sounds like eczema. If it is, be sure that you keep the skin hydrated with a really good lotion. I use Renew lotion for myself and on my 1 year old daughter, when our eczema breaks out. But when we use the Renew lotion regularly, like once or twice a day, the eczema stays at bay! (look at that…I gave you a rhyme too!!)
I finally figured out that Eucerin lotion causes something kind of like that on me and possibly on my kiddo. Maybe you've already tried this, but perhaps a brand switch? I've really liked both CeraVe and Cetaphil. Good luck!
There isn't much they can do from the outside except try to relieve dryness and such. Sometimes there is a definite unhealthy irritant such as commercial laundry soap or other chemicals (which you might want to look at), but skin issues are most often an imbalance internally, just attempting to correct itself. The latter seems to be more the case since you say he inherited it and he also gets affected by fur and feathers. There are specific homeopathic remedies which address the root of the oversensitivities and help the body balance so there is no skin reaction. Find a qualified classical homeopath to help you.
