Hello - does anyone know if they have a geographical tongue? I have been so stressed and noticed that i have all these patches and almost painless fissures on the sides of my tongue. Freaking out as I also am having like a tongue pulse or twitch in the same spot. I have always had those patches that move around but this freaks me out. Just got over a fever too.

What can I do next?

My son, 10, has that. He has had it for as long as I can remember. I asked his doctor and dentist about it and both have told me it's normal and nothing to worry about.
The almost painless fissures would worry me a bit though. His just looks like patches on his tongue.

I am not sure if this helps but my friend has had those her whole life and it has never caused her problems and her drs never seemed worried about it. And honestly I thought it was pretty cool! Now I'm not sure about the pulse or twitch so I would ask a health professional to make sure its nothing serious especially since you just got over a fever.

Yes,, it is not in any way a big deal..
It does not signify anything..

You will notice it will move around your tongue.. The human body is very interesting.

It's totally not a big deal. They move and when then do foods will taste different and feel different too. Like one week you'll love eating something, maybe pasta, but the next week it will gag you and you won't be able to stand even smelling it.

If you google it you'll see images of it and it's quite interesting to read about it. My granddaughter has it and before I decided to be a grownup and stop fighting about food with her she would take a bite of food that she loved and she'd gag and start puking it up. I didn't know what caused it. Their pediatric dentist noticed it and told me all about it. It's like a non issue most of the time. Don't worry about it. It comes and goes, nothing to do about it, it's not a big deal.

It's probably a vitamin deficiency. My sister had it. You might want to check with your doctor to find out which vitamin you need. You could be lacking enough iron, vitamin A, vitamin B, or vitamin E. My sister's was E, because she was loosing hair as well.
