Hello Everyone,
I am currently looking at switching my children's peditrician to Raintree Pediatrics in Allen. Does anyone have any experiences, either positive or negative that you could share? I would appreciate any input. Thanks so much for you help.

I had to go to him a few times when he was still w/ Dr. Moulton's office. Although personality doesn't dictate 'good medicine', I believe that with children you have to have some sort of personality with them and the parents. He was soooooo unattached, I truly felt like this was his career, not his passion. I would never leave Dr. Moulton's office and highly recommend him and his staff. His front office person, Sherry, has always been accomodating, sweet, helpful and calming. Dr. Moulton has never rushed me and has always treated my children like he was so happy to see them and really cared for them, not just going through the required motions. I have had some pretty serious stuff come up with my kiddos and have never once questioned my decision to stay w/ his practice.

My daughter has gone to Raintree since birth and we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dr. Cook, Dr. Smith, Amber (Physician's Assistant) and Sabrina (Nurse Practioner). She lights up when she sees them. Dr. Cook is to the point w/a dry since of humor, So you will either love him or you won't. He'll answer every kind of question you have and does very thorough well-visit checkups. Dr. Smith is just awesome with Elizabeth and has a great bedside manner. She is very sweet and calm natured and listens very well (I have gone on and on about sleeping issues I had early on with Elizabeth and Dr. Smith patiently listened before giving me advice on what to do). Every time I have ever called for something outside of a regular wellness check-up, Elizabeth was seen by someone on the same day, if not within the hour, which has been very reassurring as a first time (nervous & paranoid) mom. I can't say enough about them!

I have not been to Raintree, but my kids saw Dr. Cook when he was still partners with Dr. Dan Moulton. I had heard complaints in the past about Dr. Cook and his impersonal nature, but I saw no evidence of it the few times we saw him in clinic. My son (2 1/2 at the time) got along with him very well. Dr. Cook was gentle and incredibly competent. I felt very comfortable with him treating both of my children. He's not one of those doctors who coddles parents, but he will answer (and answer well) any question you may have for him. We also saw Amber, the nurse practicioner quite a lot because my kids had lots of ear infections. She was fantastic.

I would highly reconmend Raintree I have taken my son to them since we moved to Allen last August. The office is very friendly and curtious and can get you in the same day for sickness, they are also open on Saturdays. I have seem both Dr. Cook and Dr Smith and like them both, they will really listen to what you have to say and answer all of your questions. Dr Smith is really nice and great with my son, she asked very detailed questions and really cared about what I had to say.

We have been going to Raintree since last August and love it. I am having another baby in a week and I will be taking the new baby there, too. I live in Wylie and make the trek because it is worth every minute of it. My son sees Amber who is the P.A. and he loves her. She has been tremendous through some difficult medical things this spring and summer. I highly recommend them. The nurses and office staff are beyond great, too!

Hi C.,

My daughter is 9 months and we have been going to Raintree Pediatrics since she was 2 weeks old. We always have a very positive experience when we go to see Amber (she is the physician assistant.) The entire staff is very friendly and the nurses are wonderful! All though I have not seen Dr. Cook or any of the other doctors I have heard great things about them from my friends that take their children there. It is a very clean doctor's office as well and they do a good job of keeping the sick visits seperate from the checkup visits.

I hope this helps!

HI C. I AM ACTUALLY THINKING OF SWITCHING TO THEM AS WELL. THE ONLY THING I CAN TELL YOU IS A FRIEND WAS REFERRED TO THEM BY A NURSE FRIEND. MY FRIEND THEN REFERRED ME TO THEM. IF YOU GET ANY INPUT COULD YOU PLEASE SHARE IT WITH ME? I'VE BEEN TO TWO PEDIATRICIANS HERE SO FAR AND HAVEN'T BEEN HAPPY WITH EITHER ONE. I KNOW RAINTREE ALSO HAS A MEET THE DOCTOR NIGHT.
THANKYOU
K.

I don't personally go there but have some friends who just love it. If I was to switch I would definately look into that office. Call them and ask for an interview. Usually they are free just to meet the dr and discuss the practice philosophies. Good luck.

I absolutely love them! I recommend them to anyone and everyone. They have a system where you talk to the nurse first and everything is put into a handheld computer. That way, the doctor (or nurse practitioner or physician's assistant) can be very efficient with his/her time and has time to actually talk to you. I've NEVER felt rushed, never felt like I didn't get a question answered. We mostly see Dr. Cook or Amber (the PA) and really like both of them. They not only dispense medicine, but also give practical advice (like home remedies for different types of ear wax problems). They have a 24-hour nurse line if you need it, and though I've never had to use the after-hours line the nurses during the day have been very helpful. They also have Saturday morning sick visit hours.

Their philosophies are also similar to mine: provide medicine when it's needed, but don't overprescribe. The only complaint I've ever heard about them was one mom that wanted antibiotics for her child because the child was sick, but there was no evidence of bacterial infection and they wouldn't give antibiotics. On the other hand, I took my daughter in once with a high fever...they checked her for strep, etc. (the usual culprits) and all the results were negative. I think a lot of doctors would have called it a virus and sent me home. But they pursued it and found out she had a potentially dangerous kidney infection. So I got accurate and effective treatment the same day her fever spiked and we avoided kidney damage. So you can see why I really like this doctor's office!

I went to Dr. Cook when my first daughter was born. Then I switched when my second daughter was born. Now I'm back with Dr. Cook. I will agree with the comments on his personality, "bedside manner". He is reserved. Very to the point and isn't going to joke around or chat with you alot. But he is nice and will answer questions and is extremely thorough and competent. He doesn't blow things off like I've had some peds do. And much of the time we go ahead and schedule with Amber, his physician's assistant who I will say me and my kids both really love. I recommend them highly.
