Things that make noise usually require batteries. Just don't put the batteries in.
We had the Chico sit and ride train for ds1. He used it to death. We were hoping to buy the same for DS2, but they've changed the design. Now instead of a quiet "ball popper" they've got some electronic noise maker.
Any suggestions? A small footprint would be good too because we are in an apartment.
Thanks

Take out the battery!
Also, put a lot of stickers over the speaker area.
Take a look at this - it might be perfect for you:

I like this one-- it's wooden, has multiple uses:

I also highly recommend the little Radio Flyer sit and ride toy if you don't want the 'push' part. Small and easy to put away when necessary:

got this for my kids. they loved it, the train and caboose seperate if they just want to walk it. and it has volume controll and an off switch. (or leave the batteries out)
We always just had little, simple wooden or plastic ride ons. If you like a toy that happens to make noise you can always just not put any batteries in it.
