Questions About Garland Neighborhoods

I have chosen Garland to look for a home for the "school choice" as well as being able to get more square footage (and yard) for my dollar. I have found a couple of homes that I love in the La Prada area off O'Banion. The neighborhood is lovely, green, and lots of trees which I love. However, not being from that area I'm not familiar with that neighborhood. If you can recommend this neighborhood please send let me know. Also, if you can give me some advice about different neighborhoods in Garland. Just so no one gets their feelings hurt from anyone 'bashing' their neighborhood, feel free to email me privately. I have 2 young girls and will be a single mom so I want to make sure the neighborhood is safe and secure and want similiar age families. I'm 44 and my girls are 4 and 8. Oldest has some special needs.

Cathy,

I too, live in the area you are talking about. I love this neighborhood and my children attend Montclair and O'Banion. It is an older neighborhood, and is very diverse. I do like the Firewheel area as well, but as with new and upcoming areas, it is out of our price range. It's really up to you. If you are comfortable living in an older home, then this is place for you. If you want new, up and coming, then N. Garland is for you. It's all about your budget. I've really enjoyed the schools over here and it's very convienient for us. HTH! :)

Hi Cathy!
My friend Kathy lives in the exact neighborhood you are describing- she lives on Woodmeadow. They love it- quite, lots of kids to play with, easy access to 635, 30, and downtown. Right down the street is The Surf and Swim..... She walks her dog every AM, no problems.
They homeschool, but her next door neighbor is a school RN and says good things about the neighborhood schools.
IF you want more info, e-mail me and I can get you in touch w/ her.

Hello Cathy,
I have resided in Garland for over 20 years and I would highly reccommend North Garland. Specifically in the Naaman School and Firewheel area. This is a new devloping area and it is a real family friendly neighborhood. There are many familys, new schools and a new mall right there. It is also on the edge of Sachse where George Bush freeway starts so you have great access to highways. Good Luck and I hope that helped
