My daughter is 4.5 months old and is drinking 6oz. When she was 3.5 months we switched the nipples out to be stage 2 nipples so the formula will flow out quicker. It will last her around 4 hours and sometimes a little longer than that.
When did your little girl start taking five ounces or more formula per feeding?
My daughter is almost six months old, and sometimes will take a full five ounce bottle, and sometimes will drink very little. (we are delaying solids just a bit due to food allergies). How long did they use a bottle? (Reason I ask is because we changed bottles and skipped to the large size because I thought she would be drinking more by now, so I am thinking of buying the small size now as it is easier)

Have you tried switching the nipple size? My twins were eating 8 oz by 6 months. Before I switched nipple sizes (being a new mom) it would take them so long to eat a bottle and then they wouldnt finsih it because we would both be so done with it. I switched the nipple size and things went back to normal after that.
If you have tried that I would let her be. She will eat what she wants.
Good luck!
my little girl had a lot of problems eating formula. She rarely ate more that 6 oz at a time. So i just offered it in smaller amounts more times a day. that helped a little and she got more in. I would also keep track of the times she ate and how much she ate so that i could offer her more in her "hungary" times. She stopped eating formula at 10 months and we just gave her baby yogurt and calcium fortified foods. A lot of fruits and vegetables was also a main part of her diet at that time. She stayed pretty small but she was and still is very healthy and hardley ever eats junk food by choice.
My first two kids were drinking a full 8oz bottle by the time they were 5 months old. But they were big eaters. My baby just turned 6 months old and he sometimes drinks a 6oz bottle. But he is also eating baby food and drinks about 3oz know with his food. It did take him awhile to get to drinking a 6oz bottle. Your daughter will eat only what she wants and if she wants more you will know. I wouldn't really worry about as long as she is gaining weight and the doctor isn't worried about it.
My 7 month old will take 5 oz maybe 2 out of her 6-8 feedings for the day. I offer the bottle every other hour and she takes what she needs. I'm not sure her tummy will ever be big enough to take more than 5 oz at a time.
Advent bottle nipples fit their sippy cups. So if you bought the sippy cups and used your current nipples then you still have a use for the bottles. Just a thought. I have one advent bottle and sippy cup that we are practicing with now. She wants to totally skip the sippy cup and is drinking out of any cup she can get her hands on. To say the least we do a lot of shirt changes. :)
I hope this helps answer your question. GL!
If Gerber Rice cereal doesn't interfere with her allergies, then try that, along with the amount of formula you are giving her. This will give you a piece of mind and just let you know she is eating good. SHe will probably want a bottle til at least 1 yr. old. If it does interfere with her allergies, then maybe you should check with her pediatrician. Good Luck!
