Sorry to hear about your baby. Every baby reacts differently to vaccinations. My youngest is 3 months and he got very hard knots on his thighs when he got his recent set of vaccinations. My suggestion is to consult your physician about giving her pain medication. Usually I give my children Tylenol BEFORE they receive their shots. It helps ease the pain and probability for fever. Plus by giving it in the doctor's office, my doctor lets me know what dosage is acceptable. Good luck!

HI M.. I would call your doctor - she might be having an allergic reaction...it could be nothing, but better safe than sorry. They're used to getting calls regarding this stuff.

My daughter had the exact same thing happen to her when she got her first shots. I gave her Tylenol for the pain, and the swelling and redness went away within the next day.

Good luck!

Hi! My son had a similiar reaction on his butt. It was nothing more than a localized reaction, treated with motrin and benadryl. However you do need to notify your baby's doctor as your baby is only 8 weeks old. He may recommend something else or want to see the baby. Good Luck!

M.,

This happened to my daughter, but she was older. Her leg swelled and had a huge knot in it. The doctor told me to keep an eye on it, but that their wasn't anything that could be done. I would call your doctor ASAP and let him/her know since your child is much younger. Sometimes tylenol will help with the pain, but you need to check with the doc on that.

Good luck, I hope that everything works out., Let us know.

emai me if you would like more info, or if you need to ask anything else.

My kids both do that. I can't get near them. The pediatrician advises warm baths to soothe the ache. Doesn't work for us. My kids also run higher (100-101) fevers with ALL of their shots. Supposedly only some are fever inducing, but I have found my kids react poorly to vaccines...And it can last for a week. You will learn what to expect as the baby gets older. I advise giving Tylenol before the appointment to help with aches and continue it for 24 hours if comfortable. My pediatrician told me it was okay to do (but double check with yours)...Just makes the ache more bearable, especially in the evenings!!

I had this happen too. They had given him the shots in the same spot on the leg. Definitely call the pediatrician adn tell themyour concern! They may want to see him. Also I believe you can join the moms club of BB we have some in Plainfield. Just call and tell them all the activities are local to Bolingbrook and some outings with the kids are in different areas. I hope this helps. Take Care and let me know how baby is doing with shots. It is awful watching them get shots and then have pain after too boot just plain SUCKS!!
