Okay,
so for the last two months I have had extremely tender breasts, I have taken a zillion pregnancy tests all saying negative and I am on Loestrin24 FE ( bc pill).
When I was in my 20's I had a similar problem but only close to that time of the month and it was because of firbrous cysts caused by caffeine. So I quit caffeine and took a ton of Vitamin E ( as per dr. orders) It cleared up and I was told I could still have chocolate once in awhile as long as I took Vitamin E.
What I am experiencing now is far more painful than the problem I had in my 20's and has been going on constantly with no relief. I cut out chocolate and increased my daily vitamin E but that has done nothing.
Could this be a new side effect developing from my pill? I have to be very careful with what pill I take since most of them make me severly depressed close to that time of the month ( to the point of suicidal on some of them)
My OB/GYN is not the best about listening to me about my body, she told me that i should get couciling for the depression (I was like lady...I only have it right before I start...isn't that a symptom of something like PMDD?.)...
has anyone else had this problem with Loestrin24 FE?
Should I just call my OB/GYN and tell her what is going on and that I want a different pill...I have no abnormal lumps in my breast at all they are just super duper tender ( it hurts to have them touched..I almost cry putting on my bra and taking it off at night...and I have to wear a soft cup at night or I wake up from the pain caused when I shift around in my sleep)
They weren't even this tender when I was pregnant with my son!
Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It has only been 4 months since my last OB/GYN visit, no problems at the exam of either area. I called and left a message for her ( the office was closed already) I have also gone to a few medical sites to try and make sense of this as well and it looks like a combination of my pill and stress ( which has doubled over the last two months.. bills due, wedding planning, work load ( this time of year is my busiest), dealing with my ex and way he handles things and still treats me ( i wish I could zap him out of my life and have no communication but our son has a ton of allergies ( food and airborne) and the medical issues require that we have to communicate to figure out what things are causing reactions and which of the foods that tested positive don't actually manifest at all in him.
He has been on a rampage the last few months bullying me about our sons daycare ( which I have not had any issues arise with) as well as ways I have been handling situations (such as ear infections caused by pool water from dads house getting in tubes and not being flushed out with alcohol at the time it occured)...I am still planning on consulting the OB/GYN and if she blows it off completely I am continuing my search for a new one ( i live in Amarillo ....anyone have suggestions of great OB/GYN's that won't break the bank?) Thank you for the advice!
Meanwhile also since the little one is on visitation with father for the weekend I am going to go work on decreasing my stress level in a hot tub with some quiet time to myself ( and maybe one glass of red wine) ....Again Thanks Ladies you always come through!

Sept. 6th,
Had a totally relaxing weekend ( decided not to take work home with me and spent time with family and working out that I don't have to take all the wedding planning on myself ) I decided that I have to cut out the stressors that I have control over. I have also decided to take a more healthful approach to coping with the ones I cannont change ( the ex and my sons medical situation) to reduce the effects of the stress I have decided to take up Tai Chi and some strength training using weights. I have even looked into Yoga.
I am still going to see the OB/GYN and I am still also on the hunt for a new one, just in case. I feel much better today though and have little to no pain left in my breasts (with the exception of the muscle underneath but that is from the weight training exercises i did last night, my shoulders and upper arms ache a little too from it lol, guess that means I did it right )
Again thank you to all of you for your advice and for listening. Have a great labor day :-)

First and foremost, I would change OB/GYNs! You say yours is not the best at listening to you about your body - that is not right! Both my daughter and I use Dr. Lynn Nguyen at Woman's Health Center in Fountain Valley. She is fantastic ###-###-####). I would be concerned, especially if you have a history of breast tenderness. Maybe the pill isn't the best choice for birth control for you. I had really great luck with the cervical cap! Good luck. L.

You need to find a new OB/GYN. One that will take you seriously.

No caffiene of any kind and Vit. E, 1000i.u. per day might help. My mother had the same thing and it stopped forever with what I sugested. Also soda was bad and she learned to drink water a lot.

I think under your "So what happened" you just answered your own question as to why your PMS is worse than normal. For me, stress directly affects my hormones. My PMS gets way worse and all of my other symptoms do too. Don't just drink a glass of wine in the hot tub. You have all of these problems that are emotional type - an angry ex, a sick kid, wedding plans, work. The best way to get your body well is to balance your life better, like slow down and simplify, and do something good for both your body and your mind, like Yoga, or hikes in the mountains. You will notice if you can learn to relax and have these things not get to you, your PMS and hormone problems will be resolved or at least greatly diminished.

I agree that you need a breast sonogram. You know the difference between PMS breast soreness and breast pain. All breast issues need to be taken seriously. Do you have an internist? If not find one (after you take care of the sonogram appt). An internist will more likely spend more time on your other issues too. Some specialists only want to deal with their specialty...not general health. You may need an anti-depressent to take the edge off your stressors. That does not mean you are weak, it means you have a lot on your plate and need some help managing.

Hope you find the answer you are looking for.

Get a new OB. If she doesn't really listen to you, get a new OB and get a second opinion. I don't know what's causing the tenderness, but I know if you are annoyed with your doctor you should get a new one because there are good ones that listen out there. I had a similiar problem with my child's peditrician when we first moved here. I left every visit annoyed and after a year I switched and have been soooo happy!

I would definitely call the OB/GYN before the end of the day.

In my personal experiences, which led to a diagnosis of a non-breast cancer, anytime there's anything abnormal with the breasts, they take it really seriously.

None of us are medically trained enough to tell you to worry or not, so please call your doctor and let them guide you to find out what the source of your pain is.

Good luck! Hope you're better soon.
