I've been reading up on the nutritional benefits of chia seeds, flax seeds and nutritional yeast and think that I would like to start including some of these things in our diet. My question is, do you have any tips on how I can serve them or cook with them. I am especially interested in hearing any kid-friendly suggestions as well since I think I my children would really benefit from getting this additional source of nutrients into their diet.

What can I do next?

I always put ground flax seed in pancake batter, muffin batter, and biscuit dough - even the hubby likes it!

Nutritional yeast has a nasty taste so I always mix mine (and freshly ground flax seeds) in my smoothies. For kids you could make the 'smoothie' then put in little cups like a yogurt or do a quick little freeze to make it a little firmer.

Anytime you cook something you risk loosing valuable nutrients. Now having said that, ground chia and flax seeds are easy to mix in muffin mixes, pancake batter etc.

Good for you for looking out for your family's health!

I found a recipe online that uses nutritional yeast as a substitute for cheese to make lasagna -- it was vegan and good for people with milk allergies too. It was better than regular lasagna IMHO. Also, I use ground flax seed in smoothies and add 1 TBSP to oatmeal for breakfast.

Try putting nutritional yeast, butter/olive oil, cayenne pepper (if you like spicey) and salt/brags on popcorn. It is actually tasty.

i put flax meal in everything, yogurt, spaghetti sauce, bread, whatever, you can make flax crackers by simply mixing the meal with water and heating it up in the oven, be sure to get the meal though, the oils in it are barely retrieves when eaten in seed form. Im just now getting around to using nutritional yeast, so far ive scrambled it in tofu (like mock eggs) and i really like it mixed with lemon pepper on popcorn of any kind.....still havent gotten chia seeds

oh flax seed and water can replace eggs, and ive read that nutritional yeast will replace parmesan in recipes
