I have recently started painting in acrylics. I am finally starting to get the hang of it a bit and have finally painted a couple of pieces that I actually love. my question is, where do you "sign" your paintings? the back, side, front?? and if you sign in paint, what kind of brush do you use? just looking for some tips. I know I will never be a famous artist or even sell anything, but I would like to feel a bit more like a real artist. Thanks for any tips you have!!

On the front, near the bottom in a clear spot. I sign in a color from the painting so it goes with the picture. Small and readable but not too obvious.

In art school we were taught to sign on the lower right hand corner of the painting. Also on the back they have artist labels for your printed name, a number....if you number your work...date of completion...and title.

I sign in one of the bottom corners, where it's not glaringly obvious. As far as paint brushes, I use the thinnest brush I have clean and dry, at the time! Oh, I never sign in black ink, and sign very small. (I generally use a grey, or brown) Unless you DO become super famous, no one wants a dark black signature really obvious. I do put the title of the painting, year, and my name printed on the back. I have sold some paintings, and that was always just requested.
