waking up with a baby every morning is a lot more challenging and demanding than taking a pill before bed.
I kept mine by the bed and it was the last thing I did at night before going to sleep.
What's your strategy for remembering to take your pill at the same time every day?
waking up with a baby every morning is a lot more challenging and demanding than taking a pill before bed.
I kept mine by the bed and it was the last thing I did at night before going to sleep.
I wake up, I take it, complicated I know....
Brush teeth.
Rinse teeth.
Take pill.
When I was on it, I kept it beside the toothbrush.
I kept it on my bedside table and took it at bedtime every night. My sister set a recurring alarm on her cell phone for 10 pm.
Lunch time every day. I don't do first thing in the morning, because on Saturdays I sleep in... And the further from the "regular" time you take it, the more you risk efficacy. It's easy to just remember High Noon.
And if you really cannot figure out a time that works for you to remember, or a way to remember, then it must not be that important to you. I find that we remember things that matter to us. My son had a hard time remembering his homework, too, until I made it matter to him.
I took it at night at the same time I took my allergy medicine and my vitamins.
At one point right after I had my daughter and was all absent minded and sleep-deprived I set an alarm in my phone.
I just always took it at the same time I went to bed.
Not on the pill anymore, but I set an alarm on my phone. I have never really had to take medication for anything, so remembering was a challenge for me. It's not something I've ever had to remember. The alarm helped at first, but after it became routine I just remembered.
ETA: I can remember just about anything ever, but when medication hadn't been part of your life for decades, it's not routine.
I go to bed about the same time every night, and it's right next to the sink where it is easy to get a cup of water. It's as part of my routine as brushing my teeth.
When I was on the pill it sat on the little ledge by the toilet in our master bathroom (our kiddo never went in our bathroom so I felt comfortable keeping it there) and i took it every morning when I got up to pee. It was something I knew I would do every day, so it made sense to incorporate it into my routine then. I tried to do it before I went to bed, but if I forgot, then it was 8 hours or so before I was awake and remembered that I forgot.
It's just a habit - every night when I get in bed, they are in my nightstand. Honestly I am bad about taking it at the same exact time every day though. It might be a little off each day.
you just have to make it a priority. put it in the same place, make it part of your routine every single day. part of being an adult. mine is in my medicine cabinet in the bathroom and it's part of my morning routine. after all these years i don't feel "complete" unless i've taken it, even on weekends.
I'm compulsive about brushing my teeth first thing in the morning, so I leave the package with my brush. I can't pick up my toothbrush without seeing.
Besides... after 15 years, it's pretty "routine" by now!
