My daughter is 4 1/2 and never cries tears. She was about two, the first time her eyes got a little teary from the wind. She thought her eyes were bleeding, because she did not know why they were wet.
Hi, My son is 8 weeks old and I saw something recently that said that newborns should shed actual tears when crying around 3-6 weeks old. I have not seen a single tear drop to date...and yes he cries hard enough to be producing them. He does get a lot of eye boogers and his eyes get moist when he cries, there are just no actual tears...is this normal? or should he really be crying actual tears at this point?

i wouldnt worry y son didnt have tears right away he is 18m now and does have them but truly dont worry this early especialoy beings you are seeing a mist in the eyes
I don't remember when my daughter started producing real tears but she also had a lot of eye boogers. Her doctor said to use a warm wash cloth and massage where the tear ducts are. Just a little tidbit for you =o)
Enjoy that baby, he'll be turning 1 before you know it.
I don't recall seeing tears for a while with my 2.. but I couldn't tell you when..
Your son is perfect! None of my boys shed actual tears until they were multiple years old. (2 and up!) To date, I've seen my 5.5 year old cry actual tears, literally, a half of a dozen times and less times than that with my 3 year old. And as for our newborn: never! I was shocked when I saw my cousin's newborn and 3 year old shed tears simultaneously, but I know that my kiddos are fine (they do have an eye doctor they go to yearly), and they just aren't big on crying real tears. Your baby will be fine and I wouldn't be concerned too much, if I were you. Good luck with him and enjoy your time home with that baby, it goes by sooooo fast!
