I would suggest long bubble bath soaks....it may help more than a shower. I would also use the wipes after she goes potty. Poor kid :(
My 4YR daughter has always had a strong scent about her in her private region. I had asked the pediatrician's office about this a while ago - but they dismissed saying some just are stronger scented than others. (No sign of infection). Does anyone else have this scenario or know OF someone in this situation? I would like to know I'm not alone here, and any possible suggestions?? Please!?
I love this site! I love all the help and suggestions you can get so quickly. Thank you so much! Although she doesn't get "bubble baths" often - we'll eliminate those completely. And the baking soda bath sounds like it may work well. I'm going to give all the advice thought and put it to use - so thank you so much!!!! You just hate to have a situation like this with your child when you absolutely don't know what to do!

Hi K.,
Do you help her wash her bottom?
Call your peditrician again and talk to the nurse and tell her how offensive the odor is to you and what you can do about it.
Hope this helps. Good luck. D.
I"m in the same boat and mine wiggles like a banshee when I try to clean her, so I can sympathize. I'm also looking forward to teh answers.
My 6 yo has the same problem. Please don't give her bubble baths, it is really bad for that area on any child.
First off, make sure she wipes when she goes to the bathroom, and if possible, use flushable wipes at home.
Also, she needs to change her panties in the morning and evening before she goes to bed. If my girls don't, you know it!
Good luck, she will reach a time soon that this will embarass her, and you should be careful not to react too strongly or it will really upset her. She needs to understand that this is part of being a girl.
I have had the same thing with my child from birth and i kept asking the dr what is wrong with her and he keeps telling me the same thing. When she was 2 she kept saying it hurt to pee, this went on all day and she started crying and I looked in her private area and it was closed. I took her to the dr and it was closed. He had to re open it with a q-tip and it had such an strong scent that he even questioned him self. I took her to Childrens over this matter and they tell me some children are stronger scent than others. She still has a scent but they say there is nothing wrong. She is now 4 years old.
Take care and I am glad I have shared this because you are the only one that I have heard of this.
be careful of what you wash her privates with. i used to be allergic to mister bubbles and would get red and irritated in the private area. i would say to give her a bath with some baking soda to help nutralize the odor. baking soda is natural and is also good for the skin. let her play in the bath and soak with some baking soda for about 5-10 minutes and let her wash herself as usual.

My daughter has the same problem. Her pediatrician suggested placing baking soda in the water before she bathes. For what ever reason this seem to help take away the odor. It is gentle enough to use for several days, so there is no harm in using it often.
Hope this helps.

It might be her diet causing the odor. Some times you have to do research way beyond the Dr. because all they do is look for a problem and if they don't "see one" they assume everything is all right. They could have given you some advice like maybe she needs to drink more water. Do you have problems where some foods or soaps give you an irritation. Maybe it is the soap?
Try an internet search or another Dr's opinion..
Hope everything works out. S.
My triplet daughter gets a smell when she doesn't wipe well, and I mean a funk to pass out over smell. I keep flushable wipes in the bathroom for when the kids poop, but I have my daughter use them sometimes too, and sometimes after a bath I sprinkle some corn starch baby powder down there to help with any redness but also for any smell.

Hi. I am not sure if this will help but I do know that when you eat certain foods it can make your pee and area have a smell. It maybe some have stronger oders then others but if it is not right to you or you feel as though something is wrong in your gut feeling take her to another dr.
My daughter has the same issue and the pediatrician, like yours, could not find anything wrong. She told me that girls sometimes don't wipe as well as they should or they urinate just a little in their underwear. I have tried bathing often and cleaning with a wet washcloth but nothing has seemed to work. She goes to school so I can't always be there to help her. I wanted you to know that you are not alone and hope I can see some other responses to help me as well.
I also have 3 kids (5, 3, 2) and am looking forward to having a fourth. Would love to know how that goes for you too!
