hi,
I have a 16 month old and have lost over 30lbs. The problem is I went from a 36D to a 38DDD and those have not shrunk one inch. i dont understand most women are smaller after the birth but no and my back aches quite a bit as well. Any advise?

What can I do next?

I feel for you, there is no reason for this, my doctor told me every woman is different. I have a 2 year old and was a 36B when I got pregnant, I have lost all the baby weight but I am still a 38D. They didn't shrink. If you find the answer let me know! I am suffering with you.

I had a breat reduction in college. It was wonderful! Took away all the back pain and it made me look like I had lost over 20 pounds, but if you are thinking of more children it does reduce your ablility to produce milk.

Also with my first pregnancy I got up to a 36H, but dropped back to a 36D after about 8 months. I am pregnant again (12 weeks) and I am already over a 36DD and growing. So I would highly recommend the surgery but after "childbearing."

Here's the thing most women will lose weight but their bra sizes may not go down at all, especially if they breastfed. What most women don't realize is when you gain weight in general your band size changes while your cup usually doesn't. when you have a baby though all bets are off. First i suggest you go get fitted to make sure you are wearing the correct size now. &0% of all women wear the wrong size bra and everyone should get refitted every year or so.

As for the back pain if it gets severe you may want to look into breast reduction surgery. I wore a 36D when i was 14 and weighed 100. now i'm a 38DDD since i stopped breastfeeding (my nursing bras were 42H)and i'm getting breast reduction surgery later this year.

Sorry no real advice..just that I understand completely. I was a small B before I got pregnant. My son is nearly 5yrs old now and I am a C (probably a D, just depends on the bra really) and I have a ton of backaches. Eventually I will probably get a breast reduction because I am still not happy with them being so large, I prefered them the size they were.

My breasts did not shrink until I stopped breastfeeding, then they got to prepregnancy size rather quickly. I've had back problems since my 3rd preg, i have 4 children now. I started to see a chiropractor when i was expecting my last child and continue to see him once or twice/month. It makes a big difference.

By chance did you have an epidural? I had one and had problems with my back, well I still do. My baby was born 8.8lbs and is still gaining but her body length and everything is proportionate. My doctor said may back hurting was probably a combination of things which includes lifting and holding my baby. My boobs really did not get any bigger while pregnant, and they definitely did not decrease in size after birth. I had 38D before I got pregnant and the only thing I did was bought 1 new bra that was a size 40D. For my back, I had to have a shot and was put on darvocet and 2 muscle relaxers before it even eased the pain some. Not sure if any of this really relates to your situation, but thought I would share that you are definitely not alone with the back pain.

I know everybody says that they go back after the baby, but it's been my experience not just for me but for a lot of women I know that they did not go back down after the first baby. They have with the other kids but just not the first one. I went from a 36D to a 38D after my first child, with my second I went up to a 40CC and after I quit nursing I dropped right back down to a 38D in a week.

Hi A.. I too grew with my first child... Are you still nursing or did you stop recently? Mine never got "back to normal" but they did finally go down to closer to normal after my second child. He was a premie, and I could not nurse him as much as my first or as long since he was in the hospital for a long time. Not that I recommend getting prego right away.. but that is what worked for me... might try CHEST exercises...

I agree with all the advice given so far. I also was very large during my first pregnancy, and only have gone down to a 34D after finally being done with breastfeeding the triplets for two months. It took over four months for my breasts to get back down from 38DD to a 34D after being completely done with my son. (I was a C before babies.)
For the back pain, and for overall health, I highly recommend yoga. I was suffering from back pain, hip pain, and postpartum after giving birth to my son and started doing Bikram yoga twice a week. It was a life-saver. I wish I still had the time and schedule to accomodate it now.

Hi A.! Have you been that bra size right after you gave birth up until now? I don't want to sound rude, but do you need to lose some more weight or are you at your "normal" weight? If exercise and eating well isn't working, have you considered a breast reduction? i know surgery is the last option anyone would want to do, but I know if you have insurance they usually cover most of it. That is if you have medical notes indicating pain resulting from the size of your breasts. So I can not think of anything else you could do if you have lost all your baby weight. I hope you can figure this out, Take care!

Are you breast feeding? IF not, I would speak to my Dr. about this and see what he has to say.
