Only if you want to! I taught riding lessons, and loved to receive gifts from my students, but it was certainly never expected.

I gave a small plate of homemade fudge this year, and nothing last year. A handmade card by your daughter would also work beautifully.

Last year my 3 year old was in dance. We just made a small goodie bag. Candy, and a $5 starbucks card.

I suppose you can get anybody a gift for Christmas, but I don't think dance teachers expect them and they shouldn't hold it against you or your child if you don't. They should be thanking you for your continued business! But if the teacher has really been good to your kid, then by all means, go for it.

We made cookies for all my kids teachers, that included piano teacher and dance teacher. I would not go out and buy anything.

God Bless!!!

Goodness no. Unless perhaps it's homemade and you have extra. My opinion :)

I have a four year old and an one year old. Merry Christmas!

Hi H.,

I taught dance for over 20 years... some students offered me gifts; some didn't. It's totally your decision. While I apprecitaed everything ever offered to me, a teacher should never expect to receive a gift from a student. IMO a card "signed" by your daughter would be nice, or even something made by your daughter (she could do some coloring, then you could cut it to size, laminate it & make a bookmark). I still have most of the art work offered to me by the little ones I taught (these were extra cute for me cuz I mostly taught "the big girls"). I enjoyed receiving tree ornaments also. I still have them & when I put them on my tree each year & remember each child and often think, "Wow, she must be in college by now." ;) If you go the ornament route, try to find a place to write the date & your daughter's name on the box or the ornament itself. Again, don't feel that you "must" do something, but if you do, it certainly doesn't have to be extravagant! JMO.
Hope this helps,
~K.
