Try the Toughskins brand from Sears. I also seen some jeans on sale for $10-$12 at The Children's Place website.

It is gong to be hard find that type of jean in that size. Maybe Sears? You could get jeans that snap instead of button.

I get most all of our elastic waist jeans at Wal-Mart because they are so much cheaper. They have elastic waist jeans at Sears, GAP, but it is nearly impossible at this size to get the ones with elastic all the way around.

I looked up adaptive clothing for handicapped children and got a couple of sites but wasn't happy with how they looked.

If you just can't find them you may just have to work, work, work with him one weekend to teach him how to pull jeans down that have a half back waist elastic, these are MUCH easier to find in these sizes. If you get them just a bit loose they will, of course, be easier to push and pull.

Jeans that have buttons have so much fabric in the button hole area and it's so stiff. I understand how hard it can be for little fingers.

I have seen some at Kohl's- Sonoma brand I think? Also- if you have a Once Upon a Child near you, they usually have many varieties of jeans, and I have seen elastic waist jeans there in the past. Good luck!!

Get 'adjustable' waist pants.... Old Navy, Gap Kids and The Children's Place has these. It will say this on the description... and the adjustable waist pants/jeans, have in the waistband... an elastic, with button holes in it... that can be adjusted for the waist size.
Get a size pants, that is either his size or 1 size up... that way, the pants waist can be adjusted, for his size... and it will grow with him.

OR, get pants that have snap buttons.

That is what I use for my daughter who is 7, and still has problems with 'buttons'. Her pants are ALL adjustable waisted pants... and/or with snap front buttons. I get all her pants from the stores I mentioned.
They also have good online sales & deals... which is how I buy them for my daughter.

OR, from Target... do a search for "boys adjustable waist pants."

good luck,
Susan

I know that the gap has the botton looking closure, but actually doesn't have a button, but just a little slip latch. We too have this problem and my son does great with them. I know they are a bit pricey for a child, but you can usually find them on ebay at a good price.

we get ours at Target. My daughter is currently in 4T, but they have bigger sizes. I've always bought hers there and they are great.

Crazy 8 carries a pull on jean that has a ribbed top with a drawstring. You can tie it so that it's tight enough to stay up, but loose enough that they can be pulled down. They seem to carry them off and on.

Hanna Andersson has some also, but they cost more. If you look under Boys pants, the C street jeans, Quiet Strength Cargos, and Comfort jeans all have a drawstring waist with either a ribbed top or some elastic in the top. My son won't wear pants that have a zipper and snap and doesn't really care for jeans, but he will wear the Comfort jeans.
