Queen Creek or Higley District

Hi A.,
are you referring to high school? I have one child at Higley High School, One child at Gateway elementary and one child at Higley elementary. LoL. They are all great schools. But Higley High is an awesome school and my son has not had any problems there. This is his 4th year. let me know if you have any particular questions. :)

I live in Higley School District, and after doing a lot of research I decided not to send my son to Higley. Higley's test scores are lower then most schools and I didn't like the fact that the school he was supposed to go to, Higley Elementary, was a K-8 and I also talk to some neighbors that send their kids there, but are not impressed with them. I decided to send him to a charter school that offered busing that I have been very pleased with.

I have friends that work and send their kids to QC, and have heard good things, but like a lot of districts their funding was cut. Just do your research. You will find the school with the right fit for your daughter.

I have 3 kids who have attended Higley schools from middle school through high school. I think the school district in general has problems. I have not liked the way the students are not treated with respect and as individuals. My experience with the K-8 was not good once they got into the middle school grades. They were treated the same as the kindergarten students. That doesn't allow them to develop the decision making skills they need to learn at that stage in life. There have also been A LOT of questionable teachers in the district.

That said, my kids have been able to excell in the school district with two of the three earning a full scholarship to an in state college and the third one missing it by a hair. I am convinced a lot of the success depends on the child and the family support system, not necessarily the school. As a parent, I have been more impressed with the staff at Williams Field High School than with Higley.

I actually just transferred my son from a Queen Creek school (he's in 5th grade) to a Higley district k-8 school and I've noticed a huge difference in his performance and grades already. When I was doing my research, I visited 3 charter schools and 3 public schools and all of them claimed to be excelling schools. I thought that was kind of funny... really all that matters is if your child is excelling and if the school is a good fit for you child. I chose the school that I felt most comfortable with... I met the principle, the admin staff, the nurse and the teacher that my son would be with. The other great thing is my son's are 3 years apart and this gives them the chance to go to school together for another 3 more years until high school. Good luck and happy hunting!
