We'll be remodeling our kitchen soon and are looking at getting quartz countertops. Does anyone have experience with this type of countertop? Both positive and negative comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi T.. We installed quartz in our kitchen and LOVE IT. It's nice that you can put hot pots or dishes right on it without burning it and you don't have to treat it like marble. The only negative is that it still can chip. We accidently dropped a pot, just a couple of inches high in our drying rack in our sink, and the corner of the pot hit the side of the counter at the right angle, and we got a small chip. It doesn't need repairing and it's not noticable, but it's there.

Hi Tanya

Quartz countertops are an excellent choice for kitchen countertops. They are low maintenance and resist stains and scratches. They do not need sealing, are nonporous and can usually be cleaned with mild detergents. Because they are nonporous they prevent the growth of mold and microbes.

We put quartz in our master bathroom a couple of years ago because of its durability. We didnt want to use granite because I was concerned about discoloration from lotions, hair spray and toothpaste. Also didnt want to worry about sealing it. We are very happy with it and it looks great!

We just moved into a new house and the kitchen has granite all over. It looks pretty but maintenance is a pain because you can see smudges everywhere. I have to wipe the granite with a cleaning spray to get all the germs out and then I have to go over it with a special granite polish to get it shiny and smudge free. Would love to have quartz in the kitchen instead.

I've had mine for a year, and I LOVE them. They have some kind of antimicrobial coating, so I never have to worry about sealing them or germs growing on them. They look great and are easy to clean. No negatives at all.

Remodeled 2 years ago and put in Silestone countertops. Love it! No issues or complaints at all.
We ordered our countertops through Freidman's Appliance Center in Long Beach and the customer service and followthrough was incredible. We had our own project manager and she was fantastic. Just a reco because I know kitchen remodeling can be an ordeal.

My husband (whom I call the researcher) loves quartz! He says they're way better than granite because you have seal granite on a yearly basis. He had his countertops redone in his condo before we were married with quartz and they were beautiful.

If we're ever able to get our kitchen redone in our home, we will likely be doing quartz as well. Sorry, I don't remember any of the cons.

LOVE 'em! The only negative is the seam but it's in a not so visible area. Super durable, doesn't need to be sealed and very easy to clean.

Hi T.,
We have a quartz countertop on our BBQ island outside. It's only been about 6 months but so far I love them. I picked it partly because you never have to seal them. The other reason was it had a more uniform color than granite, as I had a lot of natural stone around the BBQ. Good luck!
