My husband and I have terrible luck with digital cameras. We had kodak easy share, 7.2MP. I like the digital Image stbalizer on it, it is the only way i got good pics of my daughter. But it broke twice in less than a year. Once right after i had my daughter and we lost ALL the first photos of her after she was born, We sent it to kodak and they fixed it. We used it for about 9-10 months after that till it broke again. Shortly before her first birthday. perfect. We havent had the money to buy a new camera, but my husband has a big coffee can filled with change that he has decided to let me use for a new one. SO i have a tight budget, we havent cashed it in yet but definetly less than 150. Any reccomendations?? They have a lot of affordable cameras on overstock. i can get a 10MP for less than 150, but id like to hear some recomendations before i choose one since i seem to stink at choosing a camera. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Hi, I have a Fuji which I love so much!!! Takes great pics and still working after a few years!! If you are interested, email me andI'll get all the info for you, it's a "Fuji Fine Pix". I tried Nikon and although it takes great pics, it's not user friendly, I had a canon that I love too but can't remember the exact model, I lost that one in NY when we went there for a visit, that was great too but since then, I've loved this Fuji Fine pix camera, ok, goodluck.

T.,

I'm another satisfied Canon customer!! We decided to switch over to Canon from Sony 2 years ago b/c we had some minor problems with the Sony point-and-shoot cameras. We LOVE our Canon PowerShot SD750 Digital ELPH. It was about $160 2 years ago at Best Buy, and I've seen it cheaper since then. Read all the instructions b/c it has some really fun features!

Hi T.,
F. here, I also live on a tight budget and wanted a good digital camera. Went on Dell.com got an instant credit line approval and could pick any camera and make a small monthly payment. Let me tell you I have had it for 2 years now and love it.I purchased A Canon Power Shot and two memory cards and my payment was only $25.00 monthly. Hope this is helpful to you and may you create many happy memories with your new camera.

We just bought a Canon Powershot and love it. Fits right in your pocket. I've also have a Canon EOS 35mm and a Canon Rebel which I've had for years with no problems.

You don't really need a 10mp camera unless you want to print pics larger than 8x10. I would recommend buying a canon. We have 2 canon powershot cameras, and we have never had a problem with them since we bought them approx. 5 yrs ago. I'm not sure of the models but if you would like to know, send me a message and I'll check when I get home.

We have an Olympus and the quality is great, takes really great movies too and was about $100-$125 if I remember correctly. Definitely worth it to get an extra battery for it though because when you take video, it's a battery hog! that might pop you up to about $150. But we love it! We had a Fuji before that one and loved it as well until we dropped it on the floor and it broke!

I have three cameras that I use all the time. I have a $2000 Nikon that I use for special photos, a waterproof Cannon camera that I keep on our boat, and I have a small Cannon that I keep in my purse at all times. I love the little Cannons and think they really know how to make a great point-and-shoot. I've owned the Kodaks and while they work great, I have had repair issues as well. Try Cannon--I think you'll be happy.

I agree with Canon PowerShot being a great quality camera for a decent price. There are several different models ranging from $60 to $300+. The Canon PowerShots come in models A, E, and SD. We have a SD450 (outdated now), and love it's photo quality and video function. We always research before buying, and check customer reviews of products. A great place to look is www.cnet.com. You can look at product reviews based on manufacturer, price, etc. Higher MP aren't as necessary as good picture quality. More MP just means you can blow pictures up into large prints. Good luck!

I have always had great luck with Canon. Digital camera technology is always improving, but as with any other technology the more you spend, the more you get. Digital SLR camera's offer way more than the typical digital camera. My favorite is the Canon EOS digital rebel, more expenisve than your budget, but worth every penny. Maybe you could either go cheap for the interim and save more and get a better quality camera. The digital rebel that I love has an automatic feature that takes all the guesswork out of it, it automatically focuses, sets the flash and shutter speeds, I get great pictures without really trying! But, if you really can't go that route, I'd still stick with Canon.

I can also highly recommend Canon for quality images as well as great customer service. Should the camera break for some reason within the first year they will repair it for free and do it in a very quick turn around and with Quality.

I started out with Canon Powershots and most recently bought the Powershot SD790 IS. It has many great functions and all images are great! My favorite setting is the Kids and animals setting which has a fast shutterspeed reducing blurry images. You can easily turn off flash in all settings and even in lower light achieve beautiful pictures. Check out sites like ecost and newegg for reasonable prices.

I tried out a nikon point & shoot recently, and while I liked the smile detector function I was very disappointed with the quality of images other than those taken in bright daylight. The camera would automatically adjust the ISO to a very high one, resulting all images to have a very strong graininess to them.
I returned the camera within a week.

Good luck!
