So my darling puppy had a accident on the carpet in the living room. I immediately poured salt to soak up the urine and when that was dry removed it and poured club soda to hopefully remove the smell..............it didn't really work. What can I do now??? I don't know if those super market carpet cleaners really work?? Do any of you wonderful people have any ideas how to get the urine smell out of the carpet???

What can I do next?

If is soaked through to the pad, you will not get it out. You have to replace the pad and the carpet. If it soaked through the pad to the subfloor, then you have to seal the subfloor, replace the pad and carpet. No easy solution.

Go to a pet store and get an enzyme cleaner. You want one specifically made for urine, vomit, feces, for animals.

The most popular one, I believe, is Nature's Miracle.

Nature's Miracle usually works for dog pee. Baking soda is good, too.

The salt trick only works if you blot up the urine first, which I hope you already know but your posting didn't make it clear. You blot up everything you can, then pour a ton of salt on it and leave it for at least an hour.

there is a product called "Nature's Miracle" that works very well or you could have the carpeting professionally cleaned or rent a shampooer and do it yourself

Nature's Miracle or Anti-Icky Poo. You can get them at a pet store. Drench the spot, and let dry. It totally works. If it still smells after it dries, repeat. It shouldn't take more than two times.

Nature's Miracle
Vinegar is also an option, but I use Nature's Miracle on carpet.

I've used several over time but the one I have now is called Pet Odor Eliminator and is 100% natural. It not only has enzymes but can be used on bedding, carpet, upholsetry, etc. and it neutralizes the odor. Get one that also keeps the animal from going there again and this one doesn't say that on the bottle but I think it does that and I had one that was even better that kept them from going in the same place again. I also have used Spot Shot for carpets and that works great. I'd reccomend either of these.

baking soda. then vinegar. then soak up with rags.

nature's miracle works too but sometimes takes a while. plus, its $20 a gallon. vinegar - $2.50 a gallon.

once she's house trained have a pro come out.

while, it will always be in the pad to an extent, the baking soda/vinegar and professional cleaner will get it out enough that the puppy and other animals won't continue to go there. and if they can't really smell it - neither can you!

Go to the pet store and get Nature's Miracle or Simple Solution for dog urine, vomit, etc. These products work well and will usually get rid of the odor in one use.

I tried baking soda on our oriental carpet to try to get rid of a cat throw up stain, and it worked. Not sure about how it would work on urine, but it worked fine with no damage to the rug. It did take about a week to dry out though!

An Oriental rug store owner once told me that dog urine is very hard to get out of rugs, harder than cat for some reason. He didn't know why that was, and I wondered how accurate that could be.
