Our 8 month old Wiem is in the vet. A few weeks ago he slammed (literally he was turning at 100 miles per hour and his nose SLAMMED) his nose into a concrete pillar. It got bloody but we helped him through it and thought all was good. Now his eyes are getting a bloody circle around them. I am terified right now! I wish we would have just taken him in instead of thinking oh its a bloody nose. Anyone have this happen to a dog? Its like his eyes are bloodshot only its going all the way into his iris toward the pupil. Is this because of him slamming his nose or is it something else. I tried google but i guess it doesnt work as well with dogs. Someone please tell me he is just fine! I am at work and Travis took him in. He is like one of our kids can you tell!?
Also please tell me I am not the stupid person that under exagerates a bloody nose.
Well its not related to the bloody nose at all. It is a issue that causes the veins to grow on the outside of the eye... He will go blind. See another vet tomorrow to see for sure if that is what it is. If it is we can slow it down but it is not treatable. Hello Monday morning gut shot! Thanks ladies for the answers.

If you're this worried, call the vet. They should be able to give you *some* indication of their first thoughts.
I have no experience with this, but if you makes you feel any better, I would have handled things the exact same way. Please don't feel guilty about that! I hope all is well with your pup.
Does the vet think it's related? Seems to be they could be two entirely different incidents, given the time between when the accident happened and you noticed the eye redness. Perhaps your dog got into something that irritated his eyes?

When our pug went blind, we went to see a dog ophthalmologist for a final verdict/diagnosis/hail Mary. Bet you didn’t know those kinds of vets existed. :) Our blind pug eventually adapted as did we. As you can see we developed a good sense of humor to adjust/take the sting out of the unexpected blindness. For us we came home from work on a Tuesday and our pug was totally blind – bumping into walls, leaving us wondering what the heck he drank in our absence. It was a rough first couple of weeks and we experienced a range of emotions. I can still clearly recall the grim look on the vet’s face when she dropped a cotton ball right in front our pug’s face and he didn’t react. It takes time to process the new normal but life has a way of marching on with or without you. I vote roll with the flow and it will work itself out. A blind dog is hardly the end of the world. So sorry you're stressing about your puppy.
My mom took her new puppy in to get neutered and she was a complete wreck worrying about her. She's 6 months old and only weighs 6 pounds. My mom was afraid her little baby would be traumatized, but she did just fine.
My sister's Akita got a funky growth behind one of her eyes. It would have just kept growing if it wasn't removed. They actually removed her eyball, removed the mass, and sewed her eyelid shut. The way the coloring was around her eyes, you couldn't really even tell. We joked that she was winking at everyone.
She lived many happy and spoiled years after that. It didn't slow her down a bit.
It sounds like you're waiting for a definitive diagnosis. In the meantime, have hope.
Of course you're worried, but things may work out better than you think.

Call your husband and ask what they said. If he dropped him off call the vet and ask if they know anything yet. That way you can put your mind at ease.

I would have done the same thing so please don't feel to bad about your initial decision.
In fact, two weeks ago I thought my cat maybe had a tooth infection b/c he was drooling. His normal vet (that makes house calls to keep the anxiety low) couldn't see him for 10 days b/c he was on vacation. My cat was eating, not in pain and the vet and I didn't see it as a big emergency. Since he was eating, it couldn't be too bad. But while waiting for the appt date, my kitty's cheek puffed up so I ended up taking him in to the other vet at the office to be seen right away. Turns out, he has a fatal tumor in his mouth. It wouldn't have changed the diagnosis or prognosis if I'd brought him in a few days earlier. It's there. It's not going to get better.
I had a former client that was playing fetch with his young golden. The dog ran full speed into a block wall and died from the trauma. Ugly situation.
I took in a stray mutt last year and had to get his left eye removed. He was born with it extremely small. He does really well with the single eye (he's only three years old). I have had lots of friends and former clients with pets that have lost their vision. They have all seemed to do just fine.
Oh my goodness, so sorry to hear this! I will cross my paws & pray that the specialist vet finds it to be a treatable issue.
Did your vet give it a name? I tried looking up based on the symptoms you described & couldn't find a match.
Do you still have the contact information for your breeder? I would contact them immediately & let them know what is going on. If they are anything like me, they have a great network of other breeders & a ton of information (or resources to get it) on diseases that have come up in the breed (even if they have never had it in their lines or direct experience with it).
Additionally, any responsible breeder will want to know what happened so they can make sure to notify other puppy owners & do what they can to help all of you.
Feel free to P.M. me with any questions, I'd be happy to throw it out to the RR forum & Cavalier breeders (known to have eye issues in that breed!) to see if anyone has any ideas. Sometimes people who have gone through something actually have more practical knowledge than a general practice vet can offer.

I am so sorry to hear the news about your pup. Our dogs are our fur babies as well.
Hopefully when you see a specialist, the news will be better.
That said, we have an almost 14 yr American Cocker and he is not 100% but very close to 100% blind. He tends to get around just fine... he uses his nose and follows sound.
I know it is hard to understand accidents like the one your pup had. We had another American Cocker who ran into a tree and he didn't bleed, or act upset. Yet 2 days later, he couldn't walk. We had NO idea he was injured because he was himself. This happened when he was 2. It ended up that he broke something in his neck and we did have my neighbor, an Orthopdeic Vet surgeon do surgery. It was pricey but he lived until the ripe old age of 15!
I hope you get better news than expected and that your dog will adjust well.
