Hi all. I will be taking medication for a couple of weeks after a procedure I need to have done, and will be pumping and dumping my breastmilk for about 2 weeks.
Does anyone know which formula La Leche League says is the best one?
My LO is a little over 7 months old.

Tx!

What can I do next?

I don't know what LLL suggests (they most likely don't suggest any brand of formula), but as someone who has had two breastfed AND formula-fed kids, I suggest good old traditional Enfamil Lipil, in the yellow container. This is assuming your daughter doesn't have any intolerance, digestion issues, etc. When both my girls went to formula after being breastfed, I found Enfamil to be easier for them to digest than Similac for some reason. Every baby is different and sometimes you have to try different brands. It sounds like you will resume breastfeeding after your medication has ended? Whatever your plans, I also suggest trying the formula on her before your two-week pump and dump period, just so you aren't scrambling around trying different kinds after your procedure. Good luck with everything!!

My pedi suggested Good Start when my son (who was also breastfed) didn't like Similac. I second the other poster who suggested getting her used to it a little before you have to use it, as it takes a little while for their digestive systems to adjust. Even just adding in one formula feeding/day caused my son's poop to turn to green sludge for a couple weeks (sorry for the graphic) but he wasn't uncomfortable, gassy, or constipated.

My sister is a LLL leader in another area. She said that Good Start is one that the hospitals tend to suggest as it is supposed to be easier to digest. However; Similac makes organic and soy based formulas that are good to have as an option if you are worried about allergies or sensitivities. Hope this helps.

i would prefer go with Organic formula if have to. Similac, Earth's best, and few other brands. always stick with organic :o)

i have few friends who is formula feed their babies and they use good start because that what WIC provide and because it is cheaper than other brands. i dont know about that.
