Has anyone ever dealt with this on a daily/hourly basis. I keep hearing what sounds like my pulse in my head I have been having this issue now for 2+ weeks and it is starting to drive me crazy. I am 28 weeks pregnant I have a hard time already getting enough sleep at night with waking up to go to the bathroom and now all I hear is this pounding noise all night long. Any ideas, should I be looking into this more. I know I always get this after exercising a lot but I have never had it consistently before.

What can I do next?

I get that sometimes when I'm stressed. Have you talked to your OB? I would give them a call, talk to them about it and see if they want you to come in for a blood pressure/stress test.

I don't know if it's the same, but I had a "noise" in my ears when I was pregnant with my second. The best way I can describe it is that it sounded like a helicopter and my ears felt plugged up. I did go to the doctor for it. He told me there was a little fluid in my ear because of plugged eustachian tubes. Apparently it is something that can happen during pregnancy. While it was really annoying, it did go away after I had my son. The only relief that I got was by putting a few drops of warm mineral oil in my ears.

I hope this helps!

I'll go in a completly different direction than eveybody else JUST to offer another option. My issue was TMJ and the pressure was over the ear. Just a thought. I finally had my issue diagnosed after 30 plus years of this problem. Good luck.

Hi H.
Check with you OB doc.
Chances are you're hearing your heart beat--like over working after exercise- as your blood volume increases in pregnancy by 1/3 and can make your heart work in overtime. Many women have minor things that under normal circumstances don't present-- and can under the stress of pregnancy.
Probably no concerns from health-- just a big pain for you to deal with !!

Definitely contact your OB and let them know. That "pulse" you keep hearing is exactly that! It could mean you have elevated blood pressure which you need to know about and your doctor needs to know about, ASAP.

Don't put it off until your next appt... just call them and tell them on the phone. Even if they can't give you an appointment today, you can drop in and ask them to check your blood pressure. If there is a problem with it, you will have your appointment then and there. If not, then you can relax until your appointment.

Agree with the other responses - I'd have your OB/GYN or Primary Care physician take a look to determine what the source is.

Good luck.

When you are pregnant, you have dramatically increased blood volume. It could very well be that you are more sound sensitive and you are actually "hearing" the blood moving through your head. Sounds weird, but could be. It would definately be amplified if you have (even slightly) plugged ears, like from a cold. Talk to your OB to find out for sure. If it is nothing to be concerned about, get a sound machine for your bedroom immediately! Target, Bed Bath & Beyond are great places to start. $20 and you have background noise to take your tired mind off annoying noises. I swear by mine. Good luck.
Side note, I actually slept BETTER after my daughter was born - even with the night wakings, so you are not alone!

Get it checked out, sounds like a bruit, an audible, vascular sound associated with a turbulant blood flow. I would recommend that you call your MD and see a neurologist and or cardiologist. In fact, If it were me I would insist that my MD send me to see one of the specialist.

It's your blood pressure. Call your OB and let them know. You can lay down on your left side and this normally will help lower it. Went through this with my last 2 pregnancies. High blood pressure runs in my family anyway and I was told by the Dr. this could be a red flag for when I got a little older and she was right I have high blood pressure now.

Go get it checked out. When I had that it was my blood pressure and I had to take pills throughout my pregnancy.
