Puffy Eyes

Hi moms. I have horrible bags under my eyes. I have tried so many products from Avon to Mary Kay, and anything I can get my hands on at the stores and nothing has worked. Any ideas on a product I can use to get rid of the horrible puffiness once and for all. I feel like I look 10 years older than I am.

What can I do next?

My daughter is allergic to MSG, and her eyes puff up! It is in almost everything from Chinese food to flavored Doritos! By process of elimination you can find what it is you are reacting to if you just stick to it. I only have to look at my daughter to see that she's eaten something with MSG in it!

I have the same problem. I like "All About Eyes" from Clinique. There's a 'rich'-thicker- formula that I put on at night and a regular one that you can put on right before any makeup and it won't gunk up. Also, sliced raw cucumber, one on each eye for several minutes is great. I have a couple of those blue gel masks that are kept in the fridge to put over my eyes for 15 minutes or so anytime.

hi K.-
i understand what you are talking about! i used some pretty good products, but it didn't remove the bags. If yours were like mine, it's caused by heredity: no amount of sleep, detox potions or cream could help. I had my "fat bags" under my eyes removed. It was just fat that grows regardless of your body weight. my mom, mom's mom, and dad have pronounced puffy bags under their eyes (cause by fat development in that location).
take care--

No amount of any type of product will work if you are not getting enough (7-8 hours) sleep at night. Also, you might try reducing your sodium/salt intake. That will help reduce puffiness all over. Try cutting out boxed/pre-prepared foods, and add in lots of fruits and vegetables. If you do this in combination with whatever product you use, you will be surprised how quickly they go away.

I have a neice that says alergies are part of her problem. If you think you may have any, try & stay away from whatever outside if possible, or if it is a food or cream, check that out. If you think no way is this the problem, make sure you get enough rest, this can also contribute, and for a temperary fix, I've heard lay down with your hips and legs elevated higher than your head and put cucumber slices on your eyes for a few minutes, and you are fixed to go out.

I have not tried it yet, but I hear that it works well...camamille tea(i hope i spelled that right). Get the tea bags and wet them, squeeze the liquid out so it doesn't drain in your eyes, just set them on your eyes for about 20 min. once a day and see how they look after a week. Let us know how it worked. You can get a box of tea for about $2.50 at Walmart.

Try Murad, Light n bright. It is a little pricy but it works better than anything I have used. I got some on Ebay, so it was a bit cheaper than online.

Hi K.! I can feel your pain. It is frustrating and you are probably going to get the advice to use Preparation H. This will work in the short term; however, it is TERRIBLE for your skin, especially when the area around your eyes is so delicate! The long term effects will be increased aging of the skin around your eyes.

I have been using Arbonne's RE9 anti-aging skin care products and they have been fabulous. They are all botanically-based, no chemicals, mineral oils, animal products/by-products, etc. I have been fighting dark circles and puffiness. Since I started using Arbonne, I've had people (men and women) say how refreshed I look.

I would be happy to send you a sample to try and give you my 35% discount on your first order. You can email me from my website www.foravibrantlife.myarbonne.com. I would be happy to answer any questions you have.

I wish you the best and hope you find something that works for you!

You're going to have to probably spend more on the higher end products to actually reduce puffiness.....in the meantime, do you use a good concealer? that will really help alot. chanel has a great one that I'm using now and I think it cost $30. For eye creams, you need to try some samples and try them before buying them...Sisleya eye creme ( the best!), Darphin has several good ones, also Natura Bisse is good. check them out. Your face is a long term investment, don't forget! Good for you for trying to solve this facial challenge!

Preperation H I'm told works wonders. My daughter in law says she has used this for the past couple of years. Said she saw it in some movie & decided to try it. Just put a little dab under your eye & smear it around the puffy parts. She says to leave it on about 2-5 min don't let it get on your eye itself though. Then rinse it off carefully. I have personally never tried this so be very careful if you do.

If you want a permanent solution, I think you're going to have to see a doctor and find out what the root cause is and depending on what it is will determine the treatment.

BeautiControl has wonderful Nourishing Eye Pads that you can use each morning when as you wake up (just set the clock for 5 minutes earlier, then put the eye pads on your eyes, hit the snooze button and relax). They really help and feel wonderful.

If you're interested let me know. I sell it but mostly to my friends and I'm happy to give you the friend discount.

Are you getting enough sleep? Is the rest of your face... round and puffy too? Doctors generally say best solution is lots of rest, plenty of sleep and a good diet and moisturizer. (With 3 kids at home all the time, that's probably very laughable I know, but that's what a dr. – usually a male who doesn't have to be home with the kids all the time, a a woman with a nanny or really good sitter — woud say.)

Also, have you been crying a lot? Cucumbers over the eyes are supposed to be restive. Also, for quick fix puffiness (as is often recommended to someone who has been crying) a tea bag helps draw it out.)

For the color? People used to take milk baths. Was supposed to be great for the skin, so is oatmeal mask. Ice cube, as is the case with swelling, can help reduce the area temporarily.

Or maybe you just need to get nominated for the TLC show 10 years younger. :)

Good luck mom. If ya find something that 90 % works let us know.

Hi K.! I see you have tried many things including Mary Kay. When you tried Mary Kay - did you try the Eye Revitilizer and the Firming Eye Cream? I too have puffiness/circles - the blessings I inherited - but have found by using both of these together that it really, really helps and works! I'm a sales director with Mary Kay and if you don't have a consultant you are working with, I would love to share this with you so you can try it. Plus Mary Kay is 100% guaranteed, so if you are not happy with your investment you are never "stuck" you can return it for other products or for a refund. Have a blessed day - please contact me if I can help, however if you do have a consultant ask her about these products. My website just incase you need it - www.marykay.com/nrpowers THANKS and Good Luck!

Have you tried the new one from Mary Kay called Targeted-Action Eye Revitalizer? It does really reduce under eye puffiness and dark circles. I have several very satisfied customers. We still have the older product you may have already tried: The Eye Gel (previously called Eye Mask) which only gives temporary resullts. It is cucumber based and is very cooling. When the new product is used in conjunction with the Highlighter Pen it can make a LOT of difference. I have photos. However, if the puffiness is actually filled with fluid, no topical product will work. Have you contacted a dermatologist?

I am a 16 year old veteran with MK, but recently realized many ladies were sabotaging results!

If you tried the green eye mask , but were using eye cream in area under eye (between nose and pupil) this would counteract the effects of the depuffer!

We also got in a heavier hitter, timewise eye revitalizer, only on market a couple of months. One lady in my unit, had black/purple under her eyes for the 8 years I have known her, and since this product came out, it is gone.
Call me if you want to try anything!
