Hello Everyone:) Long time no askie.....
The therapy is called Prolotherapy. I am not sure what all it really is. It is just the second step in my treatment plan(we know that it will end in spinal surgery)......Anyone receive this treatment, or know of someone who has?
....Little more info on the situation...
I have been seeing a Pain management Specialist now for about 5 months.
I broke my tail bone back in 2011. It did not end up healing correctly.
I had thrown my upper back out not once but 2 at the beginning of 2012. This was a blessing in disguise and also a curse.
The second time I threw it out, I ended up re-breaking my tailbone, which lead to the broken piece(about an inch and a half long)to flip the wrong direction and is now protruding into my right hip(causing it to flare up really bad).
Needless to say I am a pretty uncomfortable lady right now.
I just recently was able to get Health insurance. Sadly Prolo is not covered regardless. Each session is going to cost $450, yikes!
I am looking into some alternate Therapies that will do the same thing or similar. cold laser is looking awesome.
I am looking at having to wait out a 273 day period with my insurance company, before I can even be seen for this ( to not to be considered a ''Pre-existing''.....I wish Obamacare kicked at least that part in sooner then later:()
Anyways if you have any info on Prolotherapy.....Please share....Or if by chance anyone has ever had their tailbone do something similar..I am really getting desperate for new ways to relieve the discomfort that can stick around when it is really hurting.
Oh wow, I can't even imagine how awful you must feel! I have absolutely zero experience with anything you listed, but if you end up having to wait a long time for treatment, I suggest trying Jin Shin Jyutsu for pain management. It's amazing!
I wish I had more advice. I'm hoping that you can soon be pain free!

I don't know anything about this, Libby, so I can't say anything to you about it. Are they planning on removing your tailbone?
I knocked my tailbone into the nerves when I was in 7th grade. My chiropractor was able to pull it back to where it belonged. I sat on a donut for about 6 months until it was securely back in place. However, mine wasn't broken and mine didn't end up where yours is. I know that if we had't been able to do that, I would have had it removed.
I guess that I would try to get a second opinion before paying all this on your own. Can they just take it out rather than doing all of this?
So very sorry!!
Dawn

I have family members whose lives have changed for the better because of Prolo Therapy. They are no longer in pain. My aunt, in her 70's now, still babysits for her great grandchildren, works for the post office and is completely active. Each year she goes to a spa-type place in AZ where they use Prolo and other detoxifying and massage therapies for her annual "tune-up". Other family members have been able to return to normal routines and work without dr. visits, cortisone injections, 3x weekly chiro visits, etc. I'd say check it out!

Prolo therapy pretty much eliminated my husbands chronic knee pain and I think he just had it once. He recommended it to his cousin for an old ankle injury. The cousin was trying to avoid surgery but the prolo didn't do much and he still had to have surgery. I guess there is no harm trying it
Except for the expense! But if it does work and you avoid surgery it will be worth it!
