Has anyone had any experiences with this? I recently found out I am pregnant with my second child (I have a very active 6 year old & lost a baby at 7 weeks due to low progesterone last year) My doctor has me on Prochieve to keep my levels up. I was just wondering if anyone had used this product & what your experiences have been. I am nearly 7 weeks right now & scared out of my mind that I may lose another baby. If anyone can ease my mind, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

Consider using an all natural Progesterone Cream. I'm not sure if Prochieve is, but check and make sure it isn't full of chemicals.

Homefirst carries a line of Natural Progesterone Creams/Lotions. www.homefirst.com

Been where you are. I have no experience with that particular cream, but I have successfully used ProgestaCare by Life-Flo. I buy it OTC at Fruitful Yield and I am at 29 weeks today with a very healthy baby (as far as the ultrasound shows), jumping around in there. I too, experienced miscarriage from low progesterone (2 actually) and it took 18 months to get pg, so I really know how you are feeling. Every day is a walk of faith and it is the most mental pregnancy I have ever had (this is #4). I think about and analize EVERYTHING!!! :-)

Best thing I can tell you is the progesterone cream MUST be natural progesterone USP and NOT a progestin, which is a synthetic and is not bioidentical to human progesterone. The fact that you doc has you on cream and not an oral is encouraging. Hope this helps. Email if you want more info and congratulations on your pregnancy! I pray it is successful...

My cousin had progesterone suppositories that she had to take daily through her whole pregnancy after losing two pregnancies after 14 weeks and 11ish I think because of the same reason. Her levels couldn't sustain a full term pregnancy. She had a very good pregnancy - easy with TONS AND TONS of monitoring throughout but had a baby last summer and he is beautiful and healthy. She said that she will have to do this for all of her pregnancies should she choose to have more. I know it sounds unfair and annoying but in the scheme of things I think she laughs about it having a healthy happy child in her family now and being the mommy of another precious child. I know we sometimes go through a lot to get pregnant and carry it full term and its nerve wrecking at times but I guess there's no way around it. I too am pregnant and I miscarried right before this time around so I too am on pins and needles about the baby but what can you do?! It sounds like you'll be ok now that you are taking the cream and your levels will be stabilized. Good luck and may this pregnancy be successful and easy/wonderful.

L.,

I lost two babies prior to the birth of our son in June 2005. I was pregnant 3 times within 10 months and the 3rd time, they were watching me like a hawk. My progesterone was low so they had me on suppositories for the first 10 weeks or so. They were checking my levels constantly when I carried Jacob. Luckily, it all worked for the best.

When I got pregnant again last fall, they immediately put me on the suppositories. I'm now 22 weeks into the pregnancy.

I don't think there are any guarantees when it comes to a pregnancy...I was recently on bed rest at 17 weeks for bleeding. But, if your levels are being monitored then you can put your mind at ease with regard to that. At least they are being pro-active and trying to help the pregnancy along.

Just try to relax and hope for the best. I truly hope it works out for you.

...the good news is that once they confirm a heartbeat (probably around 8 weeks), your chances of a healthy baby go up drastically (to about 97%). Good luck!!
