I have used probiotics and and can tell you from my esperience what to expect. If you want to talk, please call A. at ###-###-####.
I was wondering if anyone can educate me more on the probotics use. I bought one to help with the gas that seems never ending. Only, it has been one week, and is not doing a heck of a lot. Does anyone have some advice, like how long it takes before it works, when to take it, are there ones that work better than others? Please let me know. Thank you

I don't know a whole lot, but here's what I do know about probiotics:
Probiotics should be taken on an empty stomach. My chiropractor says that if taken with food, the increased stomach acid will hinder their effectiveness. One brand that I've taken which worked for me is Bio-K Plus CL1285. It's a little pricey, but from what I understand all the good ones are. It's one of the most effective shelf-stable kinds. Another brand that my chiropractor recommends is Garden of Life Primal Defense. Also, have you tried taking Papaya Enzyme supplements as well? Or perhaps Aloe Vera juice? Just a couple of ideas for you. Good luck.
Greetings.
First, get yourself a good Food Combining Chart. It will explains how food should be combined for good digestion.
Secondly, you could try Primal Defense probotic formula.
Lastly, you should try to detox. I recommend Colonix and Toxinout by www.drnatura.com
Remember to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Which means a glass before and after your meal. Not with the meal.
Sincerely,
M. W
Some probiotics only reach the stomach before they get destroyed. You need one that can get to your intestines without being destroyed before it gets there.
I have 'Total Immune Booster' writen in my notes, so at one time I must have seen good things about it. I have seen it on the net but I have not tried it.
Consider taking Cod Liver Oil and Caprylic Acid/600 mg daily along with you probiotic.
You didn't mention if you had any other issues in the gut area, but if you do,(like Irratible bowel)you can take lipoic acid to increase your gluthathione levels. Take with N Acetyl-Cysteine, and b6, b12.
Meat has a tendency to hang out in the intestines a long time and causes gas, cutting down on it might help.
Hi W.,
Most Americans don't realize it, because dairy is such a huge part of our national diet, but the percentage of people who are lactose intolerant is staggering. Some estimates are as high as 70 percent of humans. In myself, I noticed very strong bloating and gas and it has only been eliminated with the absence of dairy in my diet. I eat a lot of supposedly gas-producing foods (cruciferous vegies, garlic, beans) but I don't have a problem UNLESS I eat dairy. I don't know if this is the problem you have, but it is worth experimenting to find out. Good luck.

Last year I suffered never ending gas and the doctor had me tested for wheat allergy (celiac disease). I was positive and had it confirmed by the g.i. dr. They had also tested me for small instestinal bacterial overgrowth which I had and got treated for. For the celiac disease I no longer eat wheat and am happily free from gas. (It took a good 5 months though). See your doctor for these tests. I also never used the probiotics for more than a day. Good luck!
Hi W.,
Do you get a lot of fiber in your diet? You should be aiming for at least 20 - 25 grams of fiber per day. Are you eating lots of fruits and veggies (great source of fiber as well as antioxidants)? You already received some tips about food combining and when to take probiotics, but I wanted to add that the way good bacteria (probiotics) work is by fermenting dietary fiber from plants (fruits, veggies, grains, beans) in your gut. Fermenting fiber in the gut produces chemicals your body uses (about 10% of your energy supply comes from them), helps you absorb minerals, helps fight cancer, helps the immune system, and also consumes some of the gases produced by bad bacteria in the gut - reducing gas. It can take a few weeks before you notice a difference on probiotics, but it's essential to be getting enough dietary fiber to "feed" the healthy bacteria in your gut.
You may have heard of "prebiotics". This is the term for the substances that "feed" the healthy bacteria in your gut. Prebiotics do not contain live bacteria. Basically, they are soluable fiber, and good sources include nuts, seeds, peas, beans, lentils, onions, garlic, bananas and artichokes. You can purchase prebiotic and probiotic supplements in most healthfood stores, Whole Foods, etc. I use In-Liven, a certified organic probiotic superfood which includes a full spectrum of the healthy bacteria as well as prebiotics to feed the bacteria so they will multiply and fourish in your gut. In-Liven is one of the very few CERTIFIED ORGANIC PROBIOTIC supplements on the market (another brand is available through chiropractors). In-Liven is available through independent reps like myself. Certified Organic In-Liven comes as a loose powder that can be mixed with juice, is delicious in fruit smoothies (get even more fiber that way) or stirred into yogurt. You can order it here https://aromatherapist.mionegroup.com/product/15101
I personally have found it to be very helpful, and I use a teaspoon every day (you can use 1-3 teaspoons). Contact me if you have any questions about it, or would like to find out about our monthly customer discount rate.

Hi W.,
My digestion went completely out of whack when I had my twin girls. They are 18 years old now. So, I've been dealing with digestion problems (including GAS!) for years now. I have diverticulitis and IBS. A friend recently told me about some stuff called MaxGXL that has been a GREAT help for me. I order it from www.maxgxl.com/maxmagic. There's a video that explains it better than I can. You can check it out and see if it works for you too.
Good luck!

I like New chapter all flora, available at health food stores, take it on empty stomach in the morning when you wake up before breakfast, and one at night before bed. it may take a few weeks to see any improvement and can actually see increased gas at first while your system is adjusting to new and beneficially bacteria. Keep taking at least one a day when you feel some relief for continued benefits. Good Luck and happy recovery
It sounds to me like it could be something in your diet causing the gas. I was having the exact same thing last summer and eliminated milk from my diet and it went away. I now take the Digestive Advantage for Lactose Intolerance and it helps tremendously!! 2 pills a day and I have no pain associated with the bloating and gas and virtually no bloating now. And it kicks right back in if I miss my pills.
You might want to start with a visit to your dr to find out just what is causing it if you can figure it out by process of elimination--it took me 2 days after stopping all milk to feel perfect again. Then, once you've gotten some answers, you can try the appropriate probiotics.
Good luck!!
As a Nurse Practitioner, there is no evidence that probiotics do anything for anything.
If your child does not mind taking them, there is no reported harm at this time.
Probiotics are all different, but most of the ones that I have used say "take on an empty stomach." So I take it w/ my coffee in the am before breakfast. I take Garden of Life brand.
So bacteria lets off gas when it breaks down food. The reason for taking probiotics is that probiotics are "good or beneficial bacteria." The beneficial bacteria will keep the "bad" bacteria in check - thus less gas. It will also keep fungus in check, thus less chance for yeast infections, etc.
In addition to taking probiotics, I would (and do) take fiber (Yarrow brand - Gentle Fibers.) I get it a Whole Foods, but I'm sure you could get it online somewhere too. So in addition to making you feel more full (good for after baby diet,) it keeps you regular. The longer your waste stays in your system, the more gas it produced (ever noticed when you are constipated you are gassier?) Dr. Oz recommends 30 grams of fiber a day for women. That's A LOT! Most people don't get that from their diets. Fiber also helps you detox, so it there's anything up there that is causing the gas, it will help it come out.
Try that for a couple of weeks and see if it helps.
If you are still gassy, I would try a colon cleanse. Maybe there's some constipated waste clinging to the intestinal wall. A cleanse will get rid of it. I really liked Dr. Natura brand. Google it if you're interested.
Hope this helps.
Hi W.,
I have been introduced to lactoferrin several years ago which supports the gastrointestinal systems One capsule is made from 3 liters of milk and the product is amamzing. It is also good for women that are wanting to get pregnant, pregnant women breast feeding and for anyone who wants to support their sysytem. I have been giving it to my granddaughter since she was 4 years of age. She loves it. I also found jadegreenzymes which is barley grass and it has helped me with gas, digestion and to lose weight and maintain my weight. For more info go to www.nikken.com/ninamarie Go to products, then to nutrition and you will learn about the many benefits of these products and how wholefoods nutrients has a benfit to your life support.
Stay safe and well.

I am not sure if the probiotics are for you or your kids? They have formulas that contain multi probioitics. I like to use those for myself. Acidophilus is recommended for use during antibiotic treatment. Probioitics need to be kept in the refrigerator.
If you are using them to treat your gas the problem might be elsewhere. Take a good look at your diet and if the problem persists I would do an elimination diet to find the culprit.
Our intestines are lined with bacteria. Both healthy good bacteria and bad bacteria (that causes bloating, gas and other intestinal problems). what probiotics are is the healthybacteria. So when we eat foods that we are either sensitive to or that aren't good for us, it adds more bad bacteria into our system. Probiotics will help balance that out but if symptoms aren't improving then you need to find out what the trigger foods are and eliminate them. Eat healthy whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables and limits fats and sweets. Drink lots of water. I'm not sure if this is for you or you child but either way you can also add flax seed meal into your diet. 1/4 tsp for baby or child and 2 Tbsp for an adult. This adds fiber, Omega 3s, and lignens and also helps keep our systems on track. Both probiotics and flax seed meal should refrigerated after opening. Good luck! Feel better!
hi- I know that the more "out of balance" your system is, the longer it takes to get back in balance. I have been on probiotics for a yr now and still get the gas problem as I have candida in my system. Check out wwww.mercola.com and also talk to the good folks at whole foods to be sure you have a good probiotic. It sounds like you do. If you eat sugar- you will have more of the problem as there will be a 'war' as such going on while the good and bad bacteria fight it out. I would suggest a very low sugar diet to no sugar at all which is what I am doing. it will be worth it in the long run. good luck! Believe me- I gave up in the past and wish that I had not as my health problems are more severe now.
Hi - I'm not sure what is causing your problem with gas, but as someone who has dealt with the affects of colitis for many years, I can tell you that what works for me is peppermint or fennell tea. You can also take peppermint in capsules. A great website for all kinds of digestive problems is www.helpforibs.com.
As far as how to take probiotics, my nutritionist recommends taking them on an empty stomach - one in the morning before breakfast and the other at bedtime.
I wish you the best of luck,
K.
W.,
I used probotics for my daughter, it took only a week for her to get some relief from gas. I gave her the BioGaia Probtics drops in a bottle with breastmilk in the morning and gave her mylacon after each feeding for 2-3 weeks.
Hi W.,
You want to take probiotics on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before a meal. You also may want to keep a food diary and see if there are any foods that may be the cause like broccoli, wheat, dairy etc. If you can pinpoint a certain food avoid it for two weeks and see if the problem clears up. Another thing you can do is combine your foods differently. Always eat fruit alone,on an empty stomach or at least 2 hours after any other meal. Combine starches with vegetables. Combine protein with vegetables. Do not combine protein and starches. Starches and protein are broken down in your body differently. Protein takes a lot longer to break down and other foods can start to ferment in your stomach waiting for the protein (hence the gas). If you try these things and still have the problem you may want to look into digestive enzymes at your local health food store.
I used to have a similar problem and didn't realize I have issues with dairy and wheat. I used to make a lot of pasta with a cream sauce and seafood. It tasted great but the after effects were pretty bad. Now, I take a probiotic everyday, try to follow the proper food combining, avoid my problem foods and very seldom have any problems with gas. I hope this helps.
