do you look unhealthily skinny? 90-95 is a normal, healthy weight for my sister, and 100-105 is normal and healthy for me. According to all of the weight charts we have EVER read, we are both supposed to weigh somewhere between 115 and 125~I have no idea where either of us would put the extra weight.

Try eating a healthful, well balanced diet~really it doesn't matter what you weigh, but how you feel. If you are eating well, and have a healthy routine and continue to LOSE weight, I would recommend consulting a physician, but otherwise, try not to worry too much.

Hi J.,
I'm a Physician Assistant, though I've quit to be at home with my kids and currently own a home based business which is going very well.

First of all I want to tell you that you don't want to gain weight with things that are unhealthy for you. Secondly, after having children, especially your first, you may have a thyroid condition. Have you gone to see your physician about that? In addition, with this being your first, you may just be on the run and stressed out all the time just trying to make sure everything is sterile and perfect for your child. If all of the above are incorrect, my home based business has protein shakes that you drink in addition to regular meals in order to gain weight. They are all vegetable protein and I have a great recipe book that other consultants have written to make them taste great.
It was nice talking to you, can you please let me know if you have tried any of the above.

Hi J.! I have to say first that I think most of us wish we had this problem:) If I could ice cream every night before bed I would be in heaven:)

On another note, are you nursing your baby? If so this is one area that casues you to lose so much weight. While nursing you can burn up to 500 calories a day. If you are nursing, once you stop, you will probably gain some weight.

Also, you could try some form of stregnth training program. Or even if you don't have a ton of time. . .30 minutes of running or walking a day can help you gain weight. When I started running evrerday I gained about 15 pounds in muscle in about 6 months. It really helped! Plus, it will make you feel so much better, physically and emotionally!! Good luck and let us know how things work out!

I know this is going to sound crazy but I was the same way. I was 149 when I left the hospital and I bottomed out at 107, I looked sooo sick. My mom said I looked like I was dying. I used to get a couple of scoops of ice cream in bed before falling asleep. Within 3-6 months I had gained almost 10 pounds and looked alot better. You could try this and see if it works.
Good Luck!

i've been there too. just wanted to offer my sympathy for the comments like "i hate you, you just had a baby and you're so skinny!" um, rude! how would someone like it if you said "i hate you, you just had a baby and you still look 7 months pregnant!" to me it felt like the same sort of comment. I really hate it when people talk about my body. especially because you can't politely respond "actually i'm too skinny and i'm trying to gain weight" because they'll hate you even more. i felt like "you look GREAT" was an insult, and really got sick of hearing it. (i'm sure it was meant as a compliment, but i just hated it) luckily people stop saying that once it's been long enough, and comment on your baby instead. that was a nice change. although now i'm so tired of hearing "she looks just like you!"... ;)

anyway, i just started eating more. like 3 helpings at dinner, and snacks like yogurt and whole milk. it worked so well that i went on the first diet in my life a few months ago to lose the chub on my thighs :) in any case, the most important thing is that you feel healthy and eat when you're hungry.

another possibility you may not want to know about... i know someone who was super skinny, and it turned out she had tapeworms (parasites)... gross! hope it's not that!

I wish I had your problem. I hit 200+ while pregnant and I'm still trying to get rid of it. I'm only 5'3"!!

If you're short you might just have to accept that you are going to be light. Here's a site that has a weight/hight chart. It should tell you the target weight you should be for your height.
http://www.healthchecksystems.com/heightweightchart.htm

Not everyone fits into the chart of course, but it should give you an idea of what the "average" is. Really, as long as you are healthy, try not to worry too much.

Good luck.

J.,
You might want to have your thyroid checked. That could explain it.

Eating unhealthy all day is not a good choice. Have you ever tried strength training?? Still eat healthy....there is NEVER an excuse to eat unhealthy all the time. Cardio (cause you need it for yoyr health) and strength training are good choices.

Hi J.-
I was the same way - all my life actually I couldn't gain weight if I tried, and I was still like that after my first baby. (not so much now after #3:) - My first question is Are you breastfeeding? that can burn up to 500 calories a day and you may be able to gain weight once your baby is weaned- thats what happened to me. If thats not the case having some routine bloodwork would be a good idea- and if its nothing medical maybe ask the dr what to do. Also eating before bed helps you to gain weight (thats actually what sumo wrestlers do) and you might want to try lifting weights- muscle weighs more than fat and you could also control where you gain the weight. Hope that helps.
