I know that BioGaia has infant drops if you are looking for something different. You haven't said how long you have been giving it, so it may need more time.
My son has been very gassy from day 1. My ped recommended probiotics. I purchased culturelle for kids which is safe for infants and it says to give a whole packet every day. I feel that may be too much since he just turned 4 months and weighs only 15 lbs. I started giving it everyday and it worked fine in the beginning but now he seems gassy again and not moving his bowels regularly. Am i giving him too much?
He is on nutramigen so I do not think the formula is an issue. I just dont see how a child and infant should get the same dosage

Instead of giving him the full children's dosage, why don't you start low and slow and give him say 1/4 of the dosage for 3 days and then 1/2 the dosage for another 3 days, and so forth. This will give his system a chance to get used to probiotics being introduced to his system and give you a chance to see how he does with each new dosage. One thing you may want to check though is that, I think Culturelle has dairy in it. Check the label and if that is indeed the case, there's a chance that if he is dairy (lactic or casein) intollerant, then he could be reacting to that and not necessarily the probiotics itself.
Hope you find the solution that works best for you and your son. And I hope he feels better soon.
I've been giving my kids (youngest is 13 weeks) Florastor to help them combat a virus going around that's causing diarreah. It does take a few days to kick in.
I'm not familiar with culturelle, but I would guess that the recommended dosage is just fine. I give the full dosage to my baby and she's (now) responding beautifully.
Is he formula or breastfed? You may want to look into that. I have friends that had to stop BF because their babies were so gassy and fussy. I've had to switch formuals plenty of times in order to find the right one. My DD now gets Enfamil Gentlease, which words well for her.
My DS did fine on regular Enfamil. So maybe look at what you're feeding him. That may solve your problem.
I actually have irritable bowel syndrome and that is why I am telling you to give it time. It took a month of medication to get me all straightened out. Just keep on doing what you are doing. Intestinal problems don't regulate immediately. When he gets older try Activia- my son loves it. Just hang in there- it will all work out, no punn intended=)
