Has anyone ever given Probiotic Eleven to a baby? I have a 5 month old who was sick for 3 months and went through 3 different antibiotics. She now, almost 2 months later, appears to be getting either another cold, or allergies. Our herbalist told us that its probably a build up of yeast in her system causing the symptoms. Just wondering if anyone else has used this. Any input would be great!! Thanks in advance!

Haven't heard of that one, but we did give my son BioGaia for most of his first year (probiotic drops) and the worked wonders for his tummy/gas issues. I'm sure they have many other benefits as well. They definitely will help build up the flora that the antibiotics have destroyed. It's like giving her baby-safe yogurt...you can't go wrong with trying them.

I have not had personal experience with that one, but I was told to give probiotics to my daughter starting at about 2 months old. So as long as it is in a form an infant can take, and there is nothing else in it, it should be fine.

I didn't use that brand either, but we're huge probiotic fans. My husband, my son and I all take one each day when healthy. If we're ever on antibiotics, we take one probiotic with each dose of antibiotic. We get them in capsule form, so my almost 4yo son's is emptied into one of his morning drinks (usually almond milk with some cocoa and palm sugar). As an infant, I would sprinkle it on my breast when nursing, or mix in the bottles.

If this were me just starting out, I would start at 2-3/day for at least a week, then go to 1/day. Good luck!

Like the others, I did not use that particular probiotic. But my pediatrician recommended Culturelle to us when my baby had thrush, which is an overgrowth of yeast. It was caused by antibiotics in our case too. An adult capsule, opened and the powder put on a damp nipple, finger, or in baby food (once he was eating cereal) would last several days. Put in the refrigerator after opening the capsule.
