Proactive-making My Eye's Swell????

I have been using Proactive for a while now. I quit using it because I am taking a medication that also helps with acne, so using it was irritating my skin. I notice I am really broken out lately so I used my proactive this morning. Now my eye is itchy and swollen and it reminded me that it was doing this the last time I used it...Is it the combination of the medicine and proactive or can I have developed an allergy?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the info ladies. I used Proactive for quite a while and it worked great for me. Didn't cure my acne, but definitely improved it.

The medication that I am taking happens to be an acne med, but thats not why I am taking it, its for another issue. It also isn't curing my acne...I hate that I am in my 30's and still fight pimples!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could be the benzl peroxide (sp?) I used to use products containing it all the time (I've had acne for 20 years, very depressing) but then I developed an allergy to it and it made my eyes itchy and puffy, plus it caused a rash on my face (delightful) so now I can only use products without benzl peroxide in them. In my experience Proactive is much better at marekting thier product than acctually curing acne. But then again I've never found a cure (OTC or prescription) so it's probably my stupid skin :(

Stop using the Proactive and rely on the medication. If that does not wirk then you may want to try more natural products. Spmetimes the acne can be cleared up with natural products. Take a lot at Enfuselle Nutrition Theraphy for the Skin, it works great and has a product specifically for acne.

It could be the combination of the two causing an irritation. I would definitely stop using it and call your doctor or whoever prescribed the medicine. You don't want it to get worse!

Hi!
I use Proactive and have not had any problems with my eyes...but it does have a really big warning about that in the directions. Maybe call your dr and ask if the two meds together is doing this.

I have perfect skin. It is due to my diet. I kept sugar out of my diet until I was in my 40's and the use of it is in chocolate which I eat in moderation.
That said I have a diet high in vegetables, a great variety of them. Fruit is part of my daily life. I do not use milk. This is the real key to good skin. Drink no milk. Do not cook with it if you can help it. Butter, cream and cheese in moderation are okay. Yogurt is good for your digestion which is where acne starts. Get Strauss or Bulgarian they have the real cultures and no sugar. All other yogurts especially those sold in the big chain stores are polluted with chemicals and loaded with sugar.
I have eaten organic food since childhood which is one reason I am so much healthier than my friends. I eat meat which is hormone and antibiotic free. Andersons is the brand that is grown in California. Arcata has a really good health food coop.
If I were you I would go looking in Arcata or Fortuna for a really good homeopath and get my entire health scope relaunched. Homeopathy cured me of asthma and chronic anemia.
