Has anyone used proactive facial cleaner? If so did it work as well as the commercials say they do? It is worth spending the money and having the automatic shipments?

What can I do next?

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

Both of my kids tried to used it for a while. I think to get the best results you have to used all of the products together, which they did not.
It bleached out all their washcloths and towels. And it darn near took the threat of a lawsuit to get them to quit calling after we stopped. They drove me nuts calling several times a week asking if we were ready to restart!

it's the only thing that has EVER worked for me. totally worth the money. It's easy to cancel too should you decide you don't like it. There is lots of it on sale on ebay if you want to bid on a month's worth and see how you like it before you sign up through them.

We tried it for my son. Didn't seem to work, actually had tried the whole product line. In addition, the customer service line drove me nuts. When you talk with a "real person" they are extremely scripted, sound like they read from a book and essentially tell you what it says on the back of the bottle. I'm sure it works for some but not us. Good luck!

I purchased it once and saw that the active ingredients are benzoyl peroxide and salylic acid etc. Now I just go to the Target or Walmart and buy the least expensive products with those ingredients. When you buy Proactive IMO, you are paying for their huge ad campaigns and celebrity endorsements. Save your money! Either those ingredients will work for you or they won't..

Proactive products are all very good. They are quality ingredients. You may need more than just the wash. You should also moisturize. I would get a spot treatment, wash and lotion.

Yes, it works but you have to use the whole system. They want you to use it 2 times a day but that is too much. Once a day or once every other day should be fine.

I used it and it worked for me. I didn't use it quick enough for the auto shipments. I didn't have trouble getting them to stop the auto shipments. Once I got the acne under control for a while I was able to stop using it. The cleanser works great. I would recommend that you go to a kiosk at the mall and get it there at first and if it works for her then call in and get the auto shipments. Heck I had toner left over until just recently and I stopped buying there products a few years ago. I couldn't use the toner and the lotion everyday or twice a day like they suggest because it dried my skin. That cleanser and the mask are the bomb!!

Walgreens has a generic line that actually says, "compare to Proactive" if you want to check it out. Its much less and obviously not on auto-ship so you won't have any of those issues. Good luck.

My daughter tried it. It didn't work. And then I couldn't get them to stop auto-shipping. Absolute nightmare! I wouldn't do it!

My face got red and irritated from it. I think I was allergic. They let me cancel pretty easily.

I purchased it once and really liked it, especially the facial mask. I just don't like to order products on a subscription basis so I never stayed with it. But, I have seen them at the mall in a vending type machine. You could try it that way. It will probably be a lot more expensive, but that might be a good option at least to see if it would work for you.

In my 20s, I did use and liked it... however, don't do the AUTO until you find out if you like it.. many malls now have proactive kiosk where you can buy just ONE package of it..

in regards to the cleaner, which even in my 20s, I didn't use every day... it can be drying.. so really take into your skin type.. I USED to have really oily skin.. so it was a good fit..

I liked the facial mask the best.. this because you could dab it on a pimple and dry it out pretty effectively.. Although in my 40s now. .I'd still buy the facial mask for the occasional pimple flareup

good luck

My daughter uses it now (she has never had any acne issues, just an occasional zit her or there).

We do not purchase it online. Our malls have a kiosk and I buy the package for 1 month $49 which has 4 items in it and it lasts her a good 2 months for her daily use.

She is like me, faithful with her skin care routine and it really pays off in the long run.

What works for my son is washing his face with a paste of baking soda and water.
The very fine grittiness helps to gently exfoliate and keeps his pores open and that really helps with keeping the zits down.
It seems to help control the oil.
Doing it every day is too much - drys out his skin - but every few days works well.
It's a lot cheaper to try and if you don't like it baking soda is still good to use for something else.

My brother used it and HATED it!

But, I think it is like any other face products. Some will work for you and others will not. I know that it can be trial and error. You might be able to get a sample from the kiosks that sell proactive in the mall (not sure). Or, if your acne is that bad, you might want to consider going to a dermatologist. I am sure there are different types of acne where different types of treatments will be recommended.

With that said, if you can afford it, I think it is worth a try. Good luck!

I agree with everyone about the auto shipments. I started using it in my 20's and found that you don't use it as fast as they reship. Also, I only use the wash and lotion once a day and the toner only twice a week. I would run out of wash, but have plenty of the other two. I ended up with way too much toner and lotion. So, I cancelled the auto ship and just went to the mall or Amazon at my convenience. It is a little bit pricier at the mall though, but less hassle. If you want to try it, maybe sign up for the $19.95 promo and then after you receive it, cancel auto ship right away so you don't get billed again. That way you don't spend too much if you don't like it.

I will say that the wash, toner and lotion all work together really well. Don't try to mix and match with other products. One kind of activates the other sort of thing. I never broke out a lot, but this really made my skin beautiful. I haven't used it in years and I recently started taking new meds. My skin has broken out worse than my teens and twenties! I've already had the meds changed, but I can't get my skin to clear back up. I just ordered proactive from Amazon and can't wait to have my skin back!
