For you moms who have tried Proactiv how long did it take to clear up your face? I have been using mine for about four weeks and I have seen some improvement but not what I expected. I would love any information or advice you have!

What can I do next?

I didn't see the improvements that many received from Proactiv and used it for almost two months.

I was using Clarly's Clean and Clear bar soap and seen a huge improvement over my skin but I had ran out forgot to order it online. I saw some reviews about the Alpha Hydroxy face wash and decide to give it a try and very impressed with the results. It's even helped fade some fine redmarks on my face.
I was able to find it at Target.

I recently started as an independent consultant for BeautiControl. They carry skin care lines and spa products. They have a line called All Clear (for acne prone skin). It is exactly the same thing as Proactiv, but does not contain the bleach Proactiv has. It is said that you have to give your skin35-40 days to renew itself. So you may want to continue and see how things work out. One thing to note: If you notice no clearing up of your skin, the product may be drying out your face too much, and then the skin counteracts and produces more oils. This may be the case you are experiencing. If you are interested in trying some All Clear, I may be able to find a sample for you to check out. My sister uses it and really likes it. Let me know.

Honestly A., I've used Proactiv for about two months now, and have not received the results I expected. It did improve my complexion somewhat, but not to the degree that I would purchase this product again. I was very disappointed. My complexion wasn't that bad to begin with-just occasional break outs in the same places-but I guess I was expecting a miracle product and it just wasn't. I hate to be so discouraging, but that was my experience with this product. I'm back to cheaper products I can buy at WalMart. Sorry! A. L.

On the today show about two months ago, they tested out proactiv, oxy and rx acne meds. the proactiv and oxy have the same result, It's the peroxide that does the work. I started using oxy after that and noticed clearer skin, just make sure you get the peroxide kind if you want to try that. Good luck! L.

I have used proactive for almost a year. It took about 3 months for my acne to totally clear up (I would say I have "minor" acne to begin with). I think it takes longer because it is so mild. It contains a lower concentrate of its ingredient than you will find in clearasil or similar products. That's also why it's easy on your skin too, though. Stick with it and you should see some better results soon.

I have been usig Proactiv for a few months. I don't think anyone gets the "amazing" results they advertise. However, for me it takes shelling out 20 bucks a month to get me to stick to a routine of washing my face twice a day. If you stick to the regimen and use the lotion- you shouldn't have any problems with Proactiv drying out your face. But most likely you could get the same results with another product that can be purchased at a local store. Like I said, it's just that for me, I didn't have a beauty routine er whatever and now I do. Guess I can't just let that expensive stuff go to waste.

My mother and I actually ordered Proactive when I was a teenager, and I used it for about 3 months. I saw absolutely NO difference at all. I even used the mask once a week. The best thing I've found for my skin tone is once every three days, I use an exfoliating wash (St. Ives Apricot Scrub) - and every other day of the week, I use a generic Neutragena cream wash (like Noxema) and that has shown GREAT improvements!
My mom still swears by Proactiv, but it just didn't work for me.
Hope you're able to figure it out!

I actually used proactiv for about two years! I never had bad acne, but started using it about 4 months before my wedding to make sure I had good skin. I still had breakouts with it and I beleive it worked as good as other cheaper products I have since switched too!

well, i guess i have been using proactive for about 4 months or so. i do have a lot of improvement from what i had, but i still get the occasional angry zit. i stopped using it for about 2 weeks because i didn't think it was working, but when i started using my old products again i noticed my skin got worse. i guess what i'm saying is that it's not fool-proof, but it works better than anything i have tried. it seems to work much better if ido all the steps morning and night. i would say hang in there for a few more weeks. oh, and i switched to a water-based make-up, and that seems to work better.

however, if proactive does not improve your skin i nthe next month, try to find something cheaper!
