Private Swim Lessons

Trying to find a good place or person for private swim lessons for my 3 and 5 years old daughters. The group lessons don't seem to be working and trying to swim with all 4 of my kids is really crazy. I was hoping to get both of them together or right after each other and preferably on consecutive days so they will retain more. I live in the Frisco area, but would be willing to travel a little bit if the person was very good. Also, if you have an idea on cost, I would appreciate it.

I highly recommend Pamela Waldrop, ###-###-####. She is in Denton which could be a little far, but will do a great job. She charges $50 Weekly Group Rate (5 1-hr. lessons) or $75 Private Lesson Rate (5 1/2-hr. lessons) For more information call her or email her at ____@____.com

Tell her that L. recommended her. She's a lovely lady and great with kids!

YMCA @ tennison. $145 for 4 half hr pvt sessions. Plus $25 reg fee.

Coordinator is Ms Sheena ###-###-####

Swim instructor Steve ###-###-#### u can call him once your kids are registered to coordinate the swim schedule.

Typically the classes are half hour, but in a group class there are usually 4-6 kids, so he spends 5 min per kid. Here he spends all of half hr with my daughter. Plus he is very flexible we have already finished 8 classes, and she can swim and also knows, breast stroke, back stroke.......

Check out www.aschooloffish.com. Shelley teaches swimming from her home in the Stonebridge area of McKinney and she is awesome. She brought my soon to be 4 year old from barely putting her face in the water to diving down in the deep end to get rings! I was amazed at the progress in 8 lessons. It was worth the $200 tuition fee!

Have you tried Emler in Plano? My son takes lessons there, and the limit the group size to 4 children. They may offer privates, I just haven't inquired about that. They are located in the shopping center on the corner of Ohio and Park.

Check with the local Y and inquire if one of their instructors could teach private lessons.

swim masters is awesome! mrs. rhea is a great teacher with so much patience and love for kids - it is taught at her house with groups of four or private lessons (could be your two together) - i believe swim lessons are $100 and privates are $150 and that is for 8 lessons - the website has all the info - they are very friendly and you can email them with any questions - my daughter went from not getting her face wet to swimming all by herself under water across the pool! (4 years old) good luck!

I don't know where you are located but there is an amazing lady in our neighborhood that does lessons in her backyard pool. We live in Frisco, her name is Sally Pena, ###-###-####. I have no idea what she charges or if she has openings, but I do know she is an excellent teacher and very very good with kids. She taught my youngest to swim years ago.
Good Luck :)

Hi J..

I would try Elmer Swim School. They have fantastic classes, so I can only assume that thier private lessons are great as well. Their website is as follows: http://www.iswimemler.com/. Best of luck.

Have you looked into ISR (www.infantswim.com). We're taking our 2yo to Sheri Phillips in Plano and I LOVE what she's teaching him. The cost for the ISR instruction is $80/per week and he attends a one-on-one class M-F. Email me privately if you would like to know more.

We do 1 on 1 lessons at our local pool in Carrollton. They are excellent and reasonable in price. The only thing is that they are weekly and you go M-Th. so you have to sign up for mulitple weeks or at least we did. My son has taken them the last 2 years and he pretty good now. They work on the level at which you are in skill level. Rosemeade is our neighborhood pool (Carrollton off Old Denton close to 121)

side note: we did lessons at a swim school and the lessons at the rec were much better in our case

My neighbor and friend teaches private lessons throughout the summer. Her name is Leslie Roetzel and her number is ###-###-####. We live near Parker and the Tollway so that's not to far from you -- give her a call and see if she has any openings. She has taught many of the kids in our neighborhood and she's great!
