Hi, I have a friend who wants to babysit my newborn (to be born in July, 1st time Mom). I would be leaving him with her for 2-3 days per week and 5-10 hours a day depending on my schedule. One week would be 2 days and the next would be 3 days. 1-2 of the days would be full days with the other one or 2 as half days. He would be 10 weeks before I would leave him with her. I have no idea what to offer her, per day or by the hour. She wants me to tell her how much. Please if any one can give me a ball park figure. She would watch my son in her home. She is a stay at home Mom with a 17 month old. Thank you!

What can I do next?

I pay $150 a week for full time care (my son is now 11 months but started at 3 months) 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM five days a week. From other friends experiences - this seems to be reasonable for this area. A center would be almost $200 for a newborn.

I would be very interested in what pricing you recieve. I currently work from home and am able to watch my 5 month old daughter but would like to know what the cost would be if I needed to put her somewhere. Also, is your friend in Plano?

Hi, My name is G. and I have baby-sat before. I generally charged $110 for 5 days work 5 hours a day. That is just some advice. The other determining factor is if you are providing everything from wipes/diapers/food/transportation. Let me know if that helps.

When I priced daycares, it ranged from $140-215 per week. I pay my sitter $40 per day because I know her and trust her a great deal and do not want her to think I asked her to get a break. I know this is steep but worth it to know my baby is in good hands. My friend has a child in part time care (three days a week) also and she found a home sitter for around $100 per week. That was the best she found. I hope this helps. I know it is hard leaving the baby---I still hate it.
