T.K.
3 differant wrapping papers. one birthday, one parents, one Santas - or no wrapping on Santas.
Please help me develop a system to keep my youngest child's presents separate.
Here's the issue/problem. He has a December birthday so I have a pile of gifts yet to be wrapped.
They are all together in one hiding spot in bags. Eek.
How do I keep these things separate?:
-Gifts from us
-Santa gifts
-Stocking Stuffers
and
-His birthday presents (also in Dec near the 25th)
It's maddening.
I am going crazy.
Please help! :)
Oh thank goodness. You mamas are brilliant.
You just saved me. I will be wrapping family gifts shortly then separating presents for child into
3 bins: 1) wrapped from mom & dad another bin 2) unwrapped from Santa w/stocking stuffers then lastly 3) a brithday bin w/gifts wrapped in birthday wrapping paper.

If they are all together in bags already, and there is no problem with the way they are being stored besides the fact they are mixed together, I would sort them into 3 large bags. 1 for birthday, 1 for Christmas gifts from you, and 1 for Santa gifts. You can tie a special ribbon on each one to help you remember, or just initial them BD, C, and S. The Santa gifts and stocking stuffers can go in the same bag because it will be obvious what goes out and what goes in the stocking when you open up the bag.
Is it an issue because you are afraid he'll discover it or because they are all mixed up? If it's a discovery issue, find a better spot to hide them. We stow everything in our attic. If it's because they are mixed up, just separate them. I keep stocking stuffers in a grocery sack. If they all don't fit in there, they definitely won't fit in the stocking. We wrap the gift from us and put them under the tree ASAP. (This is actually the first year we have been able to put things under the tree, previous years they would have been ripped open. We used to stack presents in our bedroom where we could lock the door when need be. ) We don't wrap Santa gifts, and they get stowed in the attic. Go ahead and wrap the birthday presents.
Start wrapping the presents you intend to wrap right away, and then keep then in your hiding spot, in the bags.
I started wrapping gifts yesterday so that hopefully, this year, I'll not be wrapping presents at 3 am on Christmas morning, and at 2 pm on Christmas day when we're supposed to be in the car on the way to the party :)
Do you mean which gifts from Santa vs which gifts for Bday? My daughters bday is Christmas day and she always has her party about 2 weeks before Christmas.
We always give practical gifts for bday (clothes etc) and the fun stuff for Christmas.
My daughter's birthday is also just a few days before Christmas and I keep a list of what I'm giving for bday and what is going for Christmas. As far as storage, we also keep most of it in the attic but this year I just got some colored tubs (i.e. not see through) that keep all the gifts separate and the tubs are in the garage. My kids have no idea b/c they look similar to other tubs we have for storage there.
I have my kids' presents in one tub, a different one for neices & nephews presents, etc. Within my kids' tub I have separate bags that have my daughter's bday gifts, a bag for stocking stuffers, Santa gifts, etc. within that tub. That way I can take the whole tub for my kids and wrap all at once when they are asleep or not home and not have to worry so much about them discovering things by accident. And if I need to wrap for their cousins I can grab that tub and they can help me or at least I don't have to worry so much about them finding one of their presents too.
