Shepherd of the Hills Preschool on William Cannon is excellent with a very very low staff turn over.
I'm new to Austin and would love some recommendations for preschools for my 20mo son. We live in SW Austin (circle c). Hoping for a place with low staff turnover - my little guy's a bit shy and takes time adjusting to new people and situations - I'd really like something cozy with smallish class sizes for him to bloom in. Has to be part-time - I'm not ready to give him up every day just yet. Would anyone recommend a good preschool in this area or has anyone had experiences (good or bad) with any specific preschools?

Welcome to Austin!!!!
Currently my boys 4 & 3 attend Abiding Love at Convict Hill and Brush Country. There is a full time school and the Mother's Day Out Program, which is part time. T,W and Th from 9-1. My eldest has been here since he was 2...I think my youngest started when he was about 18mo. They rotate on a school calendar year, so your child stays with the same teacher for the year. You can choose 1,2 or all 3 days depending on what vacancies they have. It's such a loving environment. I could go on and on about how all teachers over the past 2.5 years have taken to being more than just teachers, almost family. My eldest son's very first teacher is the only teacher that I know of that has left the program, and she left so she could be a full-time mom with her last child. To top it off she still comes to the school programs and parties and when we see her out in public she is always willing to stop and talk to the kids!
Good luck! Feel free to send an email if you have questions about the school or just in general.

I taught in the part time program at the CDC in circle C for 6 years and there were teachers who had been there even longer. I loved the other teachers. They were people who I left my children with. Good luck!
Welcome to Austin, it is the greatest place... Are you looking at a pre-school for this Fall? Most pre-schools start accepting children at 2 years old.. I work at St. Marks Episcopal Day School... Both my boys have been there.. A good number of teachers have been there for many many years. The class size is typically 15 students to 2 teachers. My son was in the year old class and after a few weeks, he became to really enjoy it. It definitely took time.. The 2 year old class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 12:30.. There are lots of schools to choose from.. I am sure you will get a huge response. Good luck,
I absolutely loved Elsass Acadamy. The one my son went to was on Beecaves near Westlake High School. He was there when he was 4 so I don't know how young they go but they are set up like a school where they have art class, PE and reading etc. My son was recognizing words before he started kindergarten. I know there are a couple of locations. One on Burnet but not sure if there is a 3rd. My son went all day but they also had a half day program. Ratio was I believe 10 to 1. If I remember correctly the teachers also had teaching degrees. Good Luck

Welcome to Austin!
Both of my girls have and are currently going to Hays Hills Baptist on FM 1626 (on the way to Buda). It's T-TH from 9-2, and I'd recommend it to anyone. They love it, as do I.
I also have known several people that go to Bethany Lutheran on Slaughter Lane. I believe their hours are similar, and I've heard nothing but good things about it.
Best wishes,
M.
Hi and welcome to Austin!
My girl (now 3) goes to the Spanish immersion preschool at Young People's Workshop in Westlake. It's not exactly in your area, but I thought I'd mention it in case you thought it was worth the drive.
It's fantastic. It's a very small class and super friendly. I think they take 2 year olds and up.
